LG Alex Boone injured against Browns

San Francisco 49ers LG Alex Boone went down with a knee injury in the third quarter of play against the Browns in Cleveland. Marcus Martin entered the game to replace him.


The medical staff appeared to be looking at Boone's right knee/leg. He was able to walk off of the field under his own power.


Boone went into the locker room with the 49ers medical staff for further observation. He has been reported as out for the remainder of the game.


Boone grew up in the Cleveland area and played college football at Ohio State.

The San Francisco 49ers have placed newly signed practice squad wide receiver Devin Funchess on injured reserve, per the NFL transaction wire and first reported by NFL Network's Tom Pelissero. The 49ers announced Funchess' signing on November 24. The Carolina Panthers made Funchess a second-round draft pick in 2015. Throughout his six-year career with the Panthers (2015-18), Indianapolis Colts (2019), and Green Bay Packers (2020), he has appeared in 62 games with 41 starts and registered 164 receptions for 2,265 yards and 21 touchdowns. On Wednesday, the San Francisco 49ers signed safety Doug Middleton to the practice squad. One day later, the team placed him on the injured reserve list. The situation has prompted the 49ers to re-sign safety Kai Nacua to the practice squad. San Francisco released Nacua on Wednesday as part of a move to make room on the practice squad for Middleton and linebacker Justin March. The 49ers initially signed Nacua to the practice squad on November 24, 2020. He spent part of last season on the active roster and signed a one-year extension to remain with the team on February 11. 49ers preparing for 'toughest game of the year' against Seahawks

Things have been uncharacteristically bad for the Seattle Seahawks lately. After starting the season 2-2, with one of those wins coming on the road against the 49ers in Week 4, the Seahawks have struggled as much as any team in the NFL, losing six of their last seven games.
