49ers place TE Garrett Celek on IR, re-sign LB Shayne Skov

Dec 8, 2015 at 11:41 AM--

LB Shayne Skov, who was waived by the San Francisco 49ers on Saturday to make room for C Daniel Kilgore, has been re-signed by the team. The 49ers were able to do this because that have placed TE Garrett Celek on the injured reserve list, ending his season.

Celek, who was injured against the Arizona Cardinals, met with doctors on Monday to see where he was at with his high ankle sprain.

TE Vance McDonald is going through the concussion protocol this week after a Chicago Bears defensive player impacted the back of the 49er tight end's helmet with his knee in the second quarter on Sunday. McDonald left the game and did not return. The only other tight end on the active roster is rookie Blake Bell.

This season, Celek had 19 receptions for 186 yards and three touchdowns.

By David Bonilla

Jimmy Garoppolo, George Kittle, Christian McCaffrey, and Kyle Juszczyk sat courtside during Monday night's basketball game between the Golden State Warriors and San Antonio Spurs. While some fans might be excited to see all of the San Francisco 49ers stars at Chase Center, the Warriors dancers were seemingly focused on one player—Jimmy G. Cameras caught several dancers coming over to greet the quarterback, ignoring the teammates sitting next to him, much to the amusement of Kittle and the others. They were loving Jimmy G 😂

George Kittle talks 49ers' sense of urgency, takes credit for Christian McCaffrey trade

George Kittle acknowledges that it takes time for an NFL team to get into a rhythm. Except for the 2019 season, when the San Francisco 49ers started 8-0, that has been the case for most of the tight end's career. Look at last year when the 49ers started 3-5 and went on a second-half run to make the playoffs and reach the NFC title game. Kittle believes the 49ers are figuring things out now. After starting 3-4, they have won two straight, and many feel they are trending upward, especially after trading for running back Christian McCaffrey. "We've gotten into a rhythm," Kittle told 95.7 The Game's Ray Ratto and Whitey Gleason on Wednesday. "Guys have figured out what their roles are, and guys are starting to perform. They're not thinking as much, and they're just

Steve Young believes Kyle Shanahan's conservative play-calling is due to 49ers QB Jimmy Garoppolo

Is Kyle Shanahan's play-calling too conservative? Many watching Sunday night's game against the Los Angeles Chargers might say it is. The San Francisco 49ers offense scores an average of 22 points per game, ranking 18th in the NFL. Coincidentally, that's exactly how many points they scored in the win over the Chargers. Most would think the 49ers should score more on offense rather than stalling and settling for field goals. There is too much talent on the roster with playmakers like Deebo Samuel, Brandon Aiyuk, George Kittle, Kyle Juszczyk, Jauan Jennings, and recently-added running back Christian McCaffrey. On Monday, Shanahan was asked if he felt his offense wasn't clicking and if anything could be done to increase production in the second half of the season.

The San Francisco 49ers are preparing for their Week 11 contest against the Arizona Cardinals on Monday night at Estadio Azteca in Mexico City. This week, the team is practicing at the United States Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, about an hour south of Denver, to get acclimated to the altitude. Head coach Kyle Shanahan has already ruled out defensive tackle Javon Kinlaw for Monday's game. Kinlaw remains on injured reserve due to a setback in his surgically reconstructed knee. He did not make the trip with the team. Also missing from Thursday's practice, the first of the week, was defensive lineman Arik Armstead. He is dealing with foot and
