49ers move today’s practice to nearby practice field

Aug 3, 2015 at 11:11 AM--

Like their first two practices, the San Francisco 49ers had been scheduled to conduct today's practice at Levi's Stadium.

According to Matt Maiocco of CSN Bay Area, the team has decided to move the practice to their nearby fields that sit behind the team's headquarters next door.

Just as it did on Saturday night, the Levi's Stadium field did have continued issues during yesterday's practice. The news of the sod problems has escalated quickly among the media.

The team remains committed to having their Wednesday practice, which will be in front of SBL holders, at Levi's Stadium.

Maiocco also stated that the team's next re-sodding will be after Taylor Swift concerts in mid-August.

Will the 49ers sign a veteran center? Will they move Deebo Samuel to tight end? And other mailbag questions answered

On Monday, the San Francisco 49ers began padded practices. The contract extension for Deebo Samuel was also announced. It's a fun time of the year, as the team prepares to make another run for a sixth Super Bowl championship. We opened up the 49ers mailbag and had plenty of questions to choose from. Let's respond to a handful: Diana Kayatani: There's talk about Jimmy possibly going to the Seahawks. If and when he leaves, where should he go? Felix Watkins: Where do you think Jimmy is going? The world awaits news on Jimmy Garoppolo. Will he be traded or released? Where will he go? Will he be a starter or a backup? How does he get his hair to look so nice? I wish we already had the answer to those questions. The good

49ers move up in NFL.com power rankings

The San Francisco 49ers are trending upwards, even with reports from Santa Clara of quarterback Trey Lance having an up-and-down training camp. Still, the team is talented enough to withstand any growing pains by the second-year player and new full-time starter. Apparently, Dan Hanzus of Around the NFL knows this, and that's why Kyle Shanahan's squad has moved up one spot in NFL.com's most recent power rankings, landing at No. 4. "It's full speed ahead for the Trey Lance era in San Francisco," wrote Hanzus. "There's likely to be some turbulence for a young passer with limited experience, but Lance has been set up for success after a

Kyle Shanahan on why Thursday was a 'real good' practice despite interceptions, and how picky 49ers are about Jimmy Garoppolo's destination

Trey Lance didn't exactly have a great stat line during Thursday's training camp session for the San Francisco 49ers, but head coach Kyle Shanahan says Lance was correct when he said Thursday's practice was better than Wednesday's despite multiple interceptions by the team's quarterbacks. Lance threw one of those interceptions and completed seven of 15 passes throughout the practice, while backups Nate Sudfeld and Brock Purdy threw three combined picks, according to 49ers beat reporter Matt Maiocco of NBC Sports Bay Area. But afterwards, Lance told reporters he was encouraged with

Trey Lance anxious to see how 49ers respond to second 'sloppy' practice

The San Francisco 49ers offense hopes to clean things up after two consecutive underwhelming practices. The team kicked off training camp this week, holding three practices so far. You could interpret the last two sessions as good outings for the defense, but with all eyes on second-year quarterback Trey Lance, the narrative will constantly shift towards the offense. Lance doesn't seem too concerned, though, even after his second straight day that included throwing an interception. He was 3-of-10 during Friday's team drills. "There's always going to be ups and downs," Lance told Jonathan Jones of CBS Sports HQ after Friday's practice. "I'm kind of more worried, at this point, about how we respond. I thought it was a little bit sloppy today, for sure, on my end,
