In the midst of NFL Combine week, The Athletic's NFL insider Dianna Russini casually dropped a nugget that the San Francisco 49ers' were interested in Kansas City Chiefs defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo for their own defensive coordinator role. The Chiefs signed Spagnuolo to an extension just days after the Super Bowl. That quick turnaround was perhaps inspired by the 49ers' pursuit.
