Making a choice for the 49ers in Sunday's NFL Network live draft didn't seem to come easy for Steve Mariucci, but when the time came for him to put on the GM hat for his former team, he made the decision many fans hope to see come to fruition when the real draft gets underway Thursday night. Mariucci was a natural fit to make the call at pick three in the NFL Network's draft, which featured 32 different personalities making selections for the 32 NFL teams. Rice said that he's already spoken with Lance and is willing to continue working with the young quarterback as he embarks on his NFL journey. Everyone is excited to see Kyle Shanahan deviate from what many assumed to be his prototype quarterback and go with a potentially dynamic playmaker in Trey Lance with the No. 3 overall pick. Fans are eager to see what the head coach and play-caller does with his new versatile weapon. The former North Dakota State quarterback is equally eager to see how Shanahan utilizes his talents. "He makes it work," Lance said of Shanahan during a one-on-one conversation with 49ers team reporter Keiana Martin on Thursday night. "Obviously, what he does on the field, his football mind, just the little bit I have gotten to talk to him, you can see it. And everyone in that organization is that way, so I'm

Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reported on Sunday night that the San Francisco 49ers' decision regarding the No. 3 overall pick had come down to Mac Jones of Alabama versus Trey Lance of North Dakota State. If accurate, that means Justin Fields of Ohio State is likely out of the picture in the minds of head coach Kyle Shanahan and general manager John Lynch. There was also a report from Todd McShay of ESPN that sources around the league believe that Shanahan is leaning toward Jones, while the 49ers' personnel department is pushing for Lance. That matches up with what
