49ers increase Aug. 9 practice fan capacity to 20,000

The San Francisco 49ers announced today that they would be increasing the maximum capacity for their August 9 practice at Levi's Stadium from 10,000 to 20,000.

Earlier in the week, the team allowed fans to enter online for a chance to receive tickets to the exclusive practice. Tickets will be awarded randomly to those that entered.

The 49ers kick off practices tomorrow night at Levi's Stadium following the Charlie Wedemeyer All-Star Charity High School Football Game.

49ers QB Jimmy Garoppolo has over 10,000 career passing yards

San Francisco 49ers quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo entered Week 11, needing just 22 yards to reach 10,000 career passing yards. He got that on his first three passes against the Jacksonville Jaguars and has surpassed the milestone. The 49ers traded for Garoppolo in 2017. The quarterback entered this weekend, having passed for 9,288 yards during his time with San Francisco. He had 690 passing yards in three years with the New England Patriots before joining the Niners. San Francisco is 4-5 and seeks to get to .500 with a win against the 2-7 Jaguars. In addition to his passing-yards total, Garoppolo has 61 touchdowns, 31 interceptions, and a passer rating of 98.6 over his eight NFL



Deebo Samuel becomes the first 49ers wideout to surpass 1,000 receiving yards since 2014

Deebo Samuel has become the first San Francisco 49ers wide receiver to surpass 1,000 receiving yards since 2014. The third-year wideout reached the milestone during the third quarter of Sunday's game against the Minnesota Vikings. The last 49ers wide receiver to accomplish the feat was Anquan Boldin, who recorded 1,062 receiving yards with the team in 2014. Tight end George Kittle registered over 1,000 receiving yards in 2018 and 2019, but Samuel is the first 49ers wideout to do so since Boldin. Samuel entered Week 12 with 994 receiving yards and five touchdowns, needing just six yards to reach the 1,000-yard mark. The reception that put him over was a 12-yard catch off a Jimmy Garoppolo pass. As of this post, Samuel also has 72 rushing yards and two rushing



49ers place DT Darrion Daniels on IR, sign DE Chris Slayton to the practice squad

According to the NFL transaction wire, the San Francisco 49ers have placed practice squad defensive tackle Darrion Daniels on injured reserve. He suffered an injury on Wednesday. "He hurt himself dancing during warmups at practice Wednesday," wrote David Lombardi of The Athletic. The Niners signed defensive end Chris Slayton, 25, to take Daniels' spot on the practice squad. The New York Giants made Slayton (6-4, 307) a seventh-round selection out of Syracuse in 2019. He also spent time with the Buffalo Bills, Atlanta Falcons, and Pittsburgh Steelers. The San Francisco 49ers are preparing for their Week 11 contest against the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday at TIAA Bank Field in Jacksonville, Florida. Elijah Mitchell underwent surgery to repair the fractured finger suffered on Monday night against the Rams. The running back has not practiced this week. However, he was seen today on a side field in a blue no-contact jersey and a bandage over his finger.
