Bayless on 49ers: I don't believe in Kyle Shanahan or Brock Purdy

By David Bonilla
Feb 18

The San Francisco 49ers' collapse in Super Bowl 58 has fueled skepticism from one controversial media personality, indicating a lack of trust in two key figures of the franchise. Skip Bayless is among those doubting quarterback Brock Purdy's capabilities, which isn't new information. Additionally, he questions head coach Kyle Shanahan's effectiveness. Bayless says he was confident that the Kansas City Chiefs would beat the 49ers because of superior coaching by Andy Reid and exceptional talent in quarterback Patrick Mahomes. With Steve Spagnuolo leading the Chiefs' defense, Bayless believes the result was inevitable. "I'm sorry. More than ever, I don't believe in Kyle Shanahan, and I don't believe in Brock Purdy," Bayless said on his FOX Sports podcast. "And I

Graziano: Salary cap situation may force 49ers to consider trading Brandon Aiyuk

By David Bonilla
Feb 19

All eyes will be on Brandon Aiyuk's contract situation this offseason. As the San Francisco 49ers cleaned out their locker rooms last week, the wide receiver was asked if he hopes to remain with the team that drafted him, to which he replied, "If that's the right move, yeah." The "right move" means securing a contract extension that places Aiyuk among the highest-paid receivers in the NFL. The 49ers have already invested significantly in Aiyuk's teammate, Deebo Samuel. But can they afford to retain both? Aiyuk is entering his fifth NFL season, and the 49ers exercised the fifth-year option for the receive, keeping him under contract through the end of the 2024 season. If the

Cam Newton: 49ers' Super Bowl loss due to 'bad coaching'

By David Bonilla
Feb 19

While former NFL quarterback Cam Newton hasn't wavered in his opinions surrounding San Francisco 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy, who he said played "good enough" for the Bay Area team to beat the Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl 58, he is directing blame for the loss elsewhere. "Field goal versus touchdown, that's not Brock Purdy," Newton said on his "4th and 1" podcast. "Why the [expletive] did they receive the ball first? It was Tony Romo who mentioned this—when you know what you have to get, now you have four downs to get it, not three." Newton added, "The 49ers, they were just trying to get points. And that is not Brock Purdy's fault. That's bad coaching. There was too many people who was exposed. They didn't know the real rules of

Report suggests 2024 salary cap could near $250 million

By David Bonilla
Feb 19

Speculation surrounding the 2024 salary cap indicates that it might be in the area of $242 million. That's the number that salary-cap site OverTheCap.com has been working with, which, according to their estimations, puts the San Francisco 49ers about $12.38 over the projected cap. The team could obviously use more wiggle room to sign wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk to a long-term deal. San Francisco may need to either restructure the contracts of some high-priced stars or make some difficult roster decisions to make that happen. RELATED: Graziano: Salary cap situation may
