Before you get too excited about the title, we're going to stress that this may not be anything too serious.
Forbes NFL writer Vincent Frank reported today that the San Francisco 49ers have contacted the Minnesota Vikings to gauge the interest and contract demands of star running back Adrian Peterson.
Peterson has three more years left on his current contract with the Vikings but is due $12.75 million in 2015, $14.75 million in 2016, and $16.75 million in 2017.
Peterson's father has recently voiced his opinion that the Vikings are trying to increase the trade value for six-time Pro Bowl player by stating that they would like to have him back. The Vikings have been rumored to be willing to release Peterson if necessary. Such a move would save the team around $13 million, and that number would not change if it were a pre-June 1 cut or a post-June 1 cut.
49ers have called the Vikings regarding Adrian Peterson. Nothing serious, gauging interest/AP contract demands.
