NFL Network's Albert Breer is reporting that, according to two sources, Geep Chryst is expected to be named the San Francisco 49ers' offensive coordinator. He is currently the quarterbacks coach for the team and has held that position since 2011.
The 49ers have had a tough time luring in an outside coach to become the team's offensive coordinator, with other teams either blocking interviews or other coaches choosing to be elsewhere.
One interesting fact about Chryst is that in the divisional round playoff game against the New Orleans Saints during the 2011 season, it was he who actually called the plays on the final 49ers drive of the game that resulted in the now famous game-winning touchdown by Vernon Davis.
