Harbaugh declines to discuss Michigan; NT Mike Purcell promoted to active roster

When asked about the 6-year, $48 million offer from the University of Michigan, San Francisco 49ers head coach declined to comment. If accepted, Harbaugh would become the highest paid coach in college football.

The 49ers promoted nose tackle Mike Purcell from the practice squad to the active roster today.

The 49ers released Ray McDonald yesterday after allegations of sexual assualt surfaced.

Garoppolo and Lance have been popular topics of conversation throughout the NFL this offseason, and recently a number of analysts on the NFL Network weighed in on what the future could and should hold for each of them. NFL.com writer Kevin Patra took a look around the league and ranked the 10 biggest remaining roster holes heading into training camp. Some teams appear set for the 2022 season. Others still have work to do, finding solutions to bolster potential weaknesses. Patra looked at each team's biggest weakness and ranked it against other teams' biggest weaknesses. The San Francisco 49ers came in at No. 2, with the center position being identified as the Bay Area team's biggest weakness. Assuming right tackle Mike McGlinchey returns healthy, the 49ers appear set (as far as knowing who the starters will be) along the edges of the offensive line.



49ers roster ranked 13th in the NFL by Pro Football Focus

Are their 12 teams in the NFL with better rosters than the San Francisco 49ers? It doesn't seem like there would be, given the team's talent and postseason success in 2022. But in their recent roster rankings for 2022, Pro Football Focus has the 49ers ranked 13th in the league, behind most of last season's playoff field and even a few teams that didn't make the postseason. Much has happened in terms of player movement since Super Bowl LVI, which has shuffled PFF's rankings to look quite a bit different than they might have at the end of last year.
