49ers once again release Kassim Osgood

Oct 8, 2014 at 9:26 AM--

In order to make room for newly signed safety Bubba Ventrone, the San Francisco 49ers have announced that they have - once again - released wide receiver Kassim Osgood.

Osgood, who is not 34 years old, debuted in 2003 after being signed as an undrafted free agent by the San Diego Chargers out of San Diego State.

He was originally signed by the 49ers on June 4, 2013. He was among the team's final August 31st cuts prior to the start of the 2013 season.

Osgood was re-signed by the team on September 11, 2013. He would later be let go.

He would once again be signed on March 24, 2014 and waived on August 30, 2014.

Osgood was once again signed on September 9, 2014 before being released today.

What an exhilarating game. I'm still amazed at what was probably the game of the year. The 49ers defeated the Los Angeles Rams 27-24 after forcing a 3-and-out with under two minutes to play, scoring a touchdown to force overtime, kicking a field goal to take the lead in OT, and Ambry Thomas intercepting Matthew Stafford to end the game. This was the story of two halves, as the 49ers seemed outmatched early in this game, with the Rams scoring 17 early points and the 49ers struggling to generate offense en route to just three 1st half points. But, Jimmy Garoppolo and Kyle Shanahan came out for the second half with a mission, scoring two touchdowns to tie the game at 17, the second coming with a creative Deebo Samuel touchdown pass to Jauan Jennings. The San Francisco 49ers are heading back to the playoffs for the first time since their 2019 Super Bowl run after a thrilling Week 18 overtime victory against the NFC West champion Los Angeles Rams. The 49ers were a 13-3 powerhouse in 2019, earning the #1 seed and a first-round bye, but this 2021 version, a 10-game winner and the 6th seed, may actually be better positioned to win it all than the 2019 squad. Let's compare the offensive position groups from each season to see who has the edge. Quarterback 2019 Jimmy Garoppolo 16 games, 329/476 69.1%, 3978 yds, 27 TDs and 13 INTs, 2.7 INT% Nick Mullens 2021 Jimmy Garoppolo 15 games,
