49ers.com changes design again

Nov 14, 2006 at 3:14 PM--

The official San Francisco 49ers website changed their design for the second time this year. Their last design was criticized by fans for the look and for being too difficult to navigate through. The new design follows their last news section layout (which used to be located at http://www.49ers.com/pressbox/) which was much more appealing.

While the new layout is an improvement, the sharp transition from gray to white within some of their header backgrounds and navigation background could be smoothed out.

'That's something we can't do again': Bad luck with injuries altered 49ers' draft strategy

The San Francisco 49ers had a championship roster last season yet finished with just six victories. Injuries completely ravaged the roster. By the end of Week 2, injuries had transformed the depth chart to a point that seemed impossible to overcome. Still, the team managed to compete week in and week out, but its lofty Super Bowl hopes were long gone. The poor luck forced head coach Kyle Shanahan and general manager John Lynch to rethink their draft strategy, putting more of an emphasis on health than they had in past seasons. You could tell that was the case from the 49ers' latest draft class, made up of eight prospects with fairly clean injury histories. "Not just counting here but anywhere I've been in my career, you've got a lot of history in different

Analyst and writer Michael Detillier, who contributes to several media outlets, joined the BetQL Daily podcast on Thursday and discussed the San Francisco 49ers' upcoming quarterback decision in next week's draft. Detillier recalls the day the team moved up nine spots from No. 12 overall to get into a position to acquire one of the top young talents. He was getting ready to publish his mock draft and needed to make some changes as it was headed to print due to the trade. While the national narrative quickly linked Mac Jones of Alabama to the 49ers, Detillier heard that general manager John Lynch had his sights set on a different prospect. Whether or not head coach Kyle Shanahan felt the same way is unknown. "When I went to print was the day of the

The San Francisco 49ers shocked the NFL world on March 26 when they traded a haul of draft picks to move up to the No. 3 overall pick in this year's draft. It got everyone talking and speculating. Former BYU quarterback Zach Wilson was going through his pro day when the news broke. General manager John Lynch was in attendance, and the story seemed to overshadow the workout of the player widely expected to go No. 2 overall. While everyone immediately assumed the 49ers' blockbuster move was for their quarterback of the future, which was confirmed by Lynch and head coach Kyle Shanahan three days later, one confident top prospect wasn't so sure. Pelissero: Mac Jones a good draft fit for 49ers but keep an eye on Trey Lance

By David Bonilla
Apr 22, 2021

NFL insiders Tom Pelissero and Ian Rapoport joined NFL Network on Thursday and discussed the looming quarterback question that the San Francisco 49ers have to answer next week during the draft. Will it be Mac Jones of Alabama, as many are predicting? Or will the team ruin everyone's mock drafts and take Justin Fields of Ohio State or Trey Lance of North Dakota State? While Jones is viewed as more pro-ready right now, Fields and Lance are viewed as more athletic and having higher ceilings. "But what Mac Jones brings to the table are two characteristics that Kyle Shanahan really highly values," Pelissero explained. "He is a quick
