Harbaugh expects Osgood to return to 49ers today

Sep 2, 2014 at 8:16 AM--

This morning, Jim Harbaugh stated on KNBR that he expects wide receiver and special teams ace Kassim Osgood to be re-signed by the team today.

Osgood will take the roster spot of Glenn Dorsey, who will miss most of the season with a torn bicep.

Osgood was released when the team made its final roster cuts on Saturday. His release allowed the 49ers to not pay his guaranteed salary for the season.

Jimmy Garoppolo didn't sound overly confident that he would start on Sunday night when the San Francisco 49ers host the Los Angeles Rams at Levi's Stadium. The Niners still seek their first home win of the season, and Garoppolo didn't play particularly well (OK, it was really bad) during this past weekend's embarrassing 43-17 loss to the Miami Dolphins. Garoppolo had missed two games while recovering from a high-ankle sprain and didn't look completely healthy as he went 7-of-17 for 77 yards with two interceptions and a passer rating of 15.7. "I really haven't thought that far ahead," Garoppolo responded when asked about his chances of playing in Week 6. "I guess we'll

It seems like injuries have impacted the San Francisco 49ers no matter where you look on the team's roster. On Sunday, fans saw what Miami Dolphins quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick was able to do against an injury-depleted group of 49ers cornerbacks. Injuries have decimated the pass rush. Now, linebacker Kwon Alexander is expected to be out indefinitely with a high-ankle sprain. You would think Los Angeles Rams head coach Sean McVay would be salivating at the opportunity to attack the injury-plagued 49ers defense. That isn't the case, though. He has too much respect for his division rival, coached by his good friend, Kyle Shanahan. McVay was

By David Bonilla
Oct 20, 2020

San Francisco 49ers cornerbacks played well on Sunday night against the Los Angeles Rams despite the constant shuffling of the depth chart due to injuries. Help could be on the way after this weekend. Matt Barrows of The Athletic reports that slot corner K'Waun Williams could be targeting Week 8 for his return. "I've heard K'Waun Williams is aiming to return for the Seahawks game on Nov. 1," Barrows wrote in a recent mailbag. Williams suffered an ACL sprain during the team's Week 4 loss against the Philadelphia Eagles and landed on injured reserve on October 10. The 49ers are still
