Emmanuel Sanders expected to sign with Broncos

Mar 15, 2014 at 6:57 PM--

First wide receiver Hakeem Nicks (Colts) comes off the board and then Julian Edelman (Patriots). Now it looks like the San Francisco 49ers may lose out on free agent receiver Emmanuel Sanders. The former Pittsburgh Steeler is expected to sign with the Denver Broncos where he will replace number two receiver Eric Decker, who signed with the New York Jets.

Sanders, who is 26 years old, was drafted in the third round of the 2010 NFL Draft by the Steelers. He had 114 catches for 1,521 yards and 5 touchdowns during his four seasons with the team.

Sanders was scheduled to visit with the 49ers on Saturday.

Some defensive line help may be on the way. It looks like Ezekiel "Ziggy" Ansah's gamble to turn down an offer from the San Francisco 49ers and await a better offer from a more desperate team paid off. The 49ers are flying in Ansah, 31, to meet up with the team on the East Coast, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network. The veteran appeared to roll his ankle on the play, leaving the Niners down to Ross Dwelley and rookie Charlie Woerner at tight end. Reed was ruled out of bounds on the play. The 49ers later announced that Reed was "questionable" to return, and the tight end did so during the second quarter. He was, however, seen on the sideline late in the first half having his left knee and leg examined by the medical staff. Reed was seen slowly and carefully heading into the locker room ahead of his teammates at the end of the first half. Head coach Kyle

That includes tight end George Kittle on offense and cornerback Richard Sherman and pass rusher Dee Ford on defense. The good news is that some reinforcements — at least on offense — appear to be on their way.
