Donte Whitner agrees to terms with Browns

It's official. Per Adam Shefter, former San Francisco 49ers safety Donte Whitner has agreed to terms with the Cleveland Browns.


This was expected and the 4-year deal is worth up to $28 million. That will pay Whitner up to $7 million a year. Matt Maiocco of CSN Bay Area stated that the 49ers did not want to go over about $4 million a year.

The Cleveland Browns have lost two consecutive games. Their quarterback, Baker Mayfield, is ailing. He had his arm in a sling after the Browns' 37-14 loss to the Arizona Cardinals this past weekend and said this of his shoulder: "It feels like s--t." Mayfield suffered a partially torn labrum in Week 2. He landed hard on that same shoulder on Sunday following a sack by Cardinals defender J.J. Watt. With the November 2 trade deadline approaching, San Francisco 49ers fans should brace themselves for a lot of Jimmy Garoppolo chatter now that the No. 3 overall pick, Trey Lance, has a start under his belt. The team has expressed a preference to ride out the season with the more experienced Garoppolo at the helm. Does that change depending on how these next two games
