The San Francisco 49ers clinched a playoff spot with a magical 34-24 victory over the Atlanta Falcons on Monday night. However, their playoff seed has not yet been determined. The 49ers' playoff scenarios are the following.

During week 17, the 49ers can clinch a first-round bye in the NFC playoffs with a win and Seahawks loss.

They can clinch the NFC West and the No. 1 seed with a win, a Seahawks loss, and a Panthers loss.

Lately I have listened to some podcasts and read some tweets comparing the current San Francisco 49ers team (2021) to the 2019 team that fell just short of winning the Super Bowl. ESPN recently asked its panel of "experts" — Jeremy Fowler, Louis Riddick, Seth Walder, and Field Yates — to rate each NFL team's quarterback situation, remaining (non-QB) roster, drafting ability, front office, and coaching. Using those ratings, it then ranked all 32 NFL teams on how well they are positioned for the future, creating a power ranking based on projection over the next three seasons.
