Rumor: Seneca Wallace may be retiring?

Peter Schrager of FOX Sports reported on Twitter that there is a rumor that San Francisco 49ers quarterback Seneca Wallace may be retiring. Apparently, he is not warming up for tonight's game against the Chargers in San Diego. This was retweeted by Eric Branch of the San Francisco Chronicle.

The 49ers signed Wallace on August 22. If true, this would leave Colt McCoy and B.J. Daniels as the team's backup quarterbacks behind Colin Kaepernick for the season. On Monday, the 49ers released quarterback Scott Tolzien.

Matt Maiocco of CSN Bay Area is reporting that Wallace did not make the trip to San Diego "for personal reasons."

"I've got to be better than that with it. Just take the check-down. They were giving those to us early, and I just need to be more efficient with those." Shanahan was also asked about the sideline
