David Patten may attract interest from 49ers

Jun 2, 2006 at 8:42 AM--

Yahoo! Sports lists the San Francisco 49ers as one of three teams that Washington Redskins wide receiver, David Patten, may be a good fit for. The other two teams that it lists are the Kansas City Chiefs and the Chicago Bears.

However, the article seems to be speculating more than anything else.

From Yahoo! Sports:
Patten turns 32 in August, but he'll make an attractive and cheap option for receiver-needy teams like the Kansas City Chiefs, Chicago Bears and San Francisco 49ers. And though he flamed out in Washington, that's more of an indication of a poor fit and an even poorer signing

While a wide receiver may be of interest to the 49ers, head coach Mike Nolan has already confirmed that the team is very interested to see which defensive backs are cut.

49ers considered trading Mike McGlinchey last year

By David Bonilla

Mike McGlinchey received a life-changing payday, signing a five-year, $87.5 million deal with the Denver Broncos. The offensive tackle has known for a while that he would not return to the San Francisco 49ers, the only NFL team he has played for and the one that made him the No. 9 overall pick in 2018. General manager John Lynch and head coach Kyle Shanahan made it clear to McGlinchey that he was likely playing his final months for the team. There was too much money invested in other spots, and the 49ers knew they couldn't compete with other interested teams. Behind the scenes, Lynch and Shanahan kept McGlinchey in the loop of what the team was thinking, and everything pointed to the tackle playing elsewhere in 2023 … maybe even
