David Patten may attract interest from 49ers

Jun 2, 2006 at 8:42 AM--

Yahoo! Sports lists the San Francisco 49ers as one of three teams that Washington Redskins wide receiver, David Patten, may be a good fit for. The other two teams that it lists are the Kansas City Chiefs and the Chicago Bears.

However, the article seems to be speculating more than anything else.

From Yahoo! Sports:
Patten turns 32 in August, but he'll make an attractive and cheap option for receiver-needy teams like the Kansas City Chiefs, Chicago Bears and San Francisco 49ers. And though he flamed out in Washington, that's more of an indication of a poor fit and an even poorer signing

While a wide receiver may be of interest to the 49ers, head coach Mike Nolan has already confirmed that the team is very interested to see which defensive backs are cut.

How well do the 2021 49ers stack up to the 2019 team? Lately I have listened to some podcasts and read some tweets comparing the current San Francisco 49ers team (2021) to the 2019 team that fell just short of winning the Super Bowl. I find the comparison interesting. And since many people quickly assume the 2021 49ers are not as good as the 2019 team, I wanted to take a look for myself. So as we prepare for the team to report on Tuesday, let's compare the two teams, position by position. For the purpose of this very scientific experiment, we will assume everyone is healthy (even though that never happens). Let's start on offense. The defensive comparison is coming soon. Maurice Moton, a featured columnist and fantasy football analyst for Bleacher Report, recently made nine "bold predictions" for the 2021 season. Among them was trying to predict the fate of San Francisco 49ers quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo. Garoppolo will enter training camp atop the 49ers' quarterback depth chart. However, behind him is the No. 3 overall pick, Trey Lance. Lance is the future. Garoppolo is the present. At least, that is the impression that the team's decision-makers have been presenting all offseason. The plan is to have Garoppolo start Week 1 against the Detroit Lions and potentially beyond, allowing Lance all the time he needs to
