David Patten may attract interest from 49ers

Jun 2, 2006 at 8:42 AM--

Yahoo! Sports lists the San Francisco 49ers as one of three teams that Washington Redskins wide receiver, David Patten, may be a good fit for. The other two teams that it lists are the Kansas City Chiefs and the Chicago Bears.

However, the article seems to be speculating more than anything else.

From Yahoo! Sports:
Patten turns 32 in August, but he'll make an attractive and cheap option for receiver-needy teams like the Kansas City Chiefs, Chicago Bears and San Francisco 49ers. And though he flamed out in Washington, that's more of an indication of a poor fit and an even poorer signing

While a wide receiver may be of interest to the 49ers, head coach Mike Nolan has already confirmed that the team is very interested to see which defensive backs are cut.

Trey Lance will hear his name called on Thursday night. San Francisco 49ers fans are eager to know if their favorite team will call the quarterback's name. Rich Eisen is also very interested to know where Lance is headed and grilled the former Bison about his interactions with the Niners. "How are your Zooms with the 49ers, Trey?" Eisen came out and asked the quarterback during The Rich Eisen Show. "I actually ... um," Lance said before pausing, as if he were carefully choosing his next words. "They've been going well," he continued. "I haven't had any more with them than I've had with any other team. Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reported on Sunday night that the San Francisco 49ers' decision regarding the No. 3 overall pick had come down to Mac Jones of Alabama versus Trey Lance of North Dakota State. If accurate, that means Justin Fields of Ohio State is likely out of the picture in the minds of head coach Kyle Shanahan and general manager John Lynch. There was also a report from Todd McShay of ESPN that sources around the league believe that Shanahan is leaning toward Jones, while the 49ers' personnel department is pushing for Lance. That matches up with what

Michael Silver took to Twitter on Friday to share his thoughts on the San Francisco 49ers' looming quarterback decision. Silver notes that he has been repeatedly asked about the pick and the 49ers' thinking. While it is NFL Network's policy not to "tip picks," he does have some thoughts based on what he has heard from around the league. 1) As per NFL Network policy, I am not allowed to "tip picks"... and, in any case, this is not

When longtime 49ers beat reporter Matt Barrows of The Athletic makes a guess this close to the draft on which player the team will select at pick three, it's certainly worthy of attention. But, in this case, Barrows might not know more than most people when it comes to what the 49ers will do, even though the draft is six days away. Barrows made his most recent selection for the 49ers in a recent beat reporter mock draft published by The Athletic. His pick was quarterback Mac Jones of Alabama, which is not the result many 49ers fans are hoping to see. Barrows talked about his choice
