According to the SportsCenter NFL Draft Special on ESPN, the San Francisco 49ers have contacted former USC running back LenDale White and told him that they may be calling him. This is the first time that the 49ers have shown any interest in White.
LenDale White is a big running back at 6-0 and 237 lbs. In 2004, he had 1103 rushing yards and 17 total touchdowns. In 2005, he had 1302 yards with 26 total touchdowns and added 219 receiving yards. His biggest game of 2005 was against Arizona State where he rushed for 197 yards on 19 carries. Big numbers for a running back that shared time with potential #1 pick Reggie Bush.
LenDale White has been criticized for his offseason laziness and refusal to participate in the Combine or USC’s Pro Day on April 2 blaming a hamstring injury. He has said that his hamstring is not an issue and that he will be ready to go for training camp.
With the draft only one day away, this could be a smokescreen by the 49ers.
