San Francisco 49ers projected 2021 depth chart: Post-draft

By Kirk Larrabee
Apr 29, 2021

How will the 49ers' depth chart look as the NFL Draft moves on? That's a question we'll attempt to answer here. It's a bit difficult at this time of the year to accurately project a depth chart, given how many players are new to the team, how many will come and go in the weeks ahead, and how many positions may shift down the line. There's an awful lot of guesswork going on here, but we'll give it a try based on who is on the roster at the moment. The 49ers will release their first unofficial depth chart at some point in the weeks or months ahead. We'll be making updates to this chart as the NFL Draft concludes and more players are added to the 49ers. Be sure to check back for updates. Offense QUARTERBACK 1.

Trey Lance will hear his name called on Thursday night. San Francisco 49ers fans are eager to know if their favorite team will call the quarterback's name. Rich Eisen is also very interested to know where Lance is headed and grilled the former Bison about his interactions with the Niners. "How are your Zooms with the 49ers, Trey?" Eisen came out and asked the quarterback during The Rich Eisen Show. "I actually ... um," Lance said before pausing, as if he were carefully choosing his next words. "They've been going well," he continued. "I haven't had any more with them than I've had with any other team. But definitely looking forward to [the draft], like said, finding out where I'm going to be. I wish I knew, just as much as you do. Probably

Draft grade roundup: 49ers get (mostly) high marks for selection of Trey Lance

By Kirk Larrabee
Apr 29, 2021

What do the pundits think of the 49ers' decision to use the third overall pick on North Dakota State quarterback Trey Lance? Not everyone was a huge fan of the move, but for the most part, the feeling is the 49ers did the right thing. The 49ers made Lance their selection Thursday night, choosing him over Alabama quarterback Mac Jones and Ohio State quarterback Justin Fields. Online writers mostly applauded the move after weeks of speculation that the pick would be Jones, but they cautioned that the 49ers would have their work cut out for them in trying to develop the raw but talented Lance. Here's a roundup of grades that were handed out to the 49ers Thursday night by websites that were posting instant draft analysis. Click on a writer's name or site
