'Third and Jauan': 49ers WR Jennings steps up again in the clutch during win over Saints

By Kirk Larrabee
Nov 27

49ers wide receiver Jauan Jennings has had a quieter year statistically than some may have expected, considering where he was at the end of the 2021 season. But just as he did in 2021, Jennings stepped up in the clutch Sunday, giving the 49ers multiple huge plays while helping them secure a 13-0 win over the New Orleans Saints. After catching 16 passes for 212 yards and three touchdowns over the final five games of the 2021 regular season, Jennings entered this weekend with 30 catches for 220 yards and zero touchdowns for 2022. But on Sunday he caught six passes for 49 yards while hauling in the game's only touchdown. Jennings also made a key third down catch on the game's final drive that helped run out the clock and seal the win. Jennings' clutch performance on

San Francisco 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan jumped on a conference call with reporters on Monday, a day after the team's 13-0 win over the New Orleans Saints. He provided several injury updates from the game. Running back Elijah Mitchell suffered an MCL sprain in his left knee. The team initially thought it wasn't as severe as the MCL sprain he suffered in his right knee during Week 1, forcing him to miss seven games. The 49ers believed he might miss two or three weeks. That isn't the case, though. "It wasn't the news we were looking for," Shanahan said. "He'll be out longer than that. Most likely six to eight weeks." Mitchell will likely land back on the injured reserve list. Shanahan said the team hopes he can return sometime during the playoffs.

Cardinals' DeAndre Hopkins wishes he could box 49ers' Charvarius Ward

By David Bonilla
Nov 26

There's a player-player rivalry brewing in the NFC West. Arizona Cardinals wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins is ready for a bout with San Francisco 49ers cornerback Charvarius Ward, and he's not talking about the Week 18 rematch between the two teams in January. Following this past Monday night's win over the Cardinals in Mexico City, Ward criticized Hopkins following the 49ers' 38-10 victory. "He was getting locked up. He was doing some dirty things," Ward said. "He tried to clip me, he grabbed me by the throat. He grabbed my facemask on one play, so I don't respect his game. That's steroid boy." That last part is a jab regarding

Jimmy Garoppolo: Familiarity could sway me to return to 49ers

By David Bonilla

It seems unlikely that quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo would opt to return to the San Francisco 49ers in 2023. Of course, no one predicted that he would be on the roster come Week 1 of this season, either. Even Garoppolo fully anticipated being elsewhere. There was some interest from other teams throughout training camp, but nothing came to fruition. That left Garoppolo and the 49ers kind of stuck with one another. So the two agreed to extend the marriage for one more season. San Francisco restructured Garoppolo's remaining year on his contract, allowing the quarterback to return as Trey Lance's backup. It worked out for both sides. Garoppolo is having a solid season, increasing his value for the upcoming offseason—an offseason in which the 49ers can't utilize
