49ers roster moves: CB Anthony Brown re-signed, CB Tre Swilling waived
By David Bonilla
Sep 22
The San Francisco 49ers announced they have re-signed cornerback Anthony Brown to a one-year deal. To make room on the roster, the team waived cornerback Tre Swilling.
The Niners released Brown on Thursday, just hours ahead of their game against the New York Giants. That move came just days after initially signing Brown to the 53-man roster.
The 49ers will likely try to re-sign Swilling to the practice squad. On Thursday, the cornerback was promoted from the practice squad to the active roster. He played 19 snaps on special teams against the

49ers vs. Giants: Picks and Predictions
By Rohan Chakravarthi

The San Francisco 49ers will finally return to Levi's Stadium in Week 3 for their home opener, where they'll host the New York Giants in a Thursday Night Football showdown in hopes of improving to 3-0.
Heading into the game, the 49ers are seen as ten-point favorites, with the over/under placed at 44.5 points per game, as the Giants will be without star running back Saquon Barkley, left tackle Andrew Thomas, outside linebacker Azeez Ojulari, and left guard Ben Bredeson on the road.
In a weekly installment, I'll be dishing out some fun predictions on the game, rather than just providing an outright winner, although that will still continue in certain close games.
This week, I've got six intriguing predictions, with some for the 49ers and others for the

"They are basically fielding the NFL All-Pro team": Where the 49ers stand in Week 3 power rankings

The San Francisco 49ers have now won 12 consecutive regular-season games, just three games shy of tying the 15-game record set between the 1989 and 1990 seasons. Sunday's 30-23 win against the Los Angeles Rams may not have been the prettiest of victories, but Kyle Shanahan's squad improved to 2-0 on the season and sit alone atop the NFC West.
The 49ers managed to beat their division rival despite quarterback Brock Purdy having arguably his most unimpressive game as a starter. He finished the game 17-of-25 for 206 yards and a passer rating of 93.1, a new regular-season career-low as a starter.
Meanwhile, running back Christian McCaffrey leads the NFL with 268 rushing yards and ranks second only to wide receiver Justin Jefferson of the Minnesota Vikings in

49ers' Kyle Shanahan: We have to do better with our RB rotation
By David Bonilla

Christian McCaffrey played 57 offensive snaps on Sunday against the Los Angeles Rams. The next closest running back was ... no one. No other running back took the field with the offense during the 30-23 win at SoFi Stadium.
That was not the plan going into the Week 2 game.
McCaffrey has now taken 115 snaps through two games this season. The only other running back who has lined up with the offense is Elijah Mitchell, who had 10 snaps in Week 1.
"Yeah, we definitely got to get Elijah in there more and do better with our rotation than we did yesterday," head coach Kyle Shanahan said via a conference call on Monday. "That wasn't the plan going in. It just ended up that way,
