Jason Verrett enjoyed dipping his toes into the free-agency waters. The veteran cornerback ended up re-signing with the San Francisco 49ers on a one-year deal, but it wasn't due to a lack of interest from other teams. He opted to bet on himself again, as he did last offseason, and prove to skeptics that he can stay healthy while playing at a high level. It also feels good to stay with something familiar. "[Free agency] was a good experience," Verrett told reporters via Zoom on Monday. "It always feels good to be wanted, but my heart was always with San Fran. I love the comradely we've got with the team, the coaches, staff, training staff, the amazing fans, the whole nine yards. I was happy that we [were] able to get a deal done, and I'm just excited to see what

The argument for Mac Jones over some other quarterback prospects at No. 3 overall is that the former Alabama player might be among the most ready to step in and play. Some feel that Justin Fields of Ohio State or Trey Lance of North Dakota State could benefit from sitting and learning for a year. Much of that has to do with the system within which Jones played last year. Fields and Lance are viewed as having higher ceilings than Jones, though. They may be better long-term prospects. ESPN's Todd McShay released his latest mock draft and has the San Francisco 49ers selecting Jones with their top pick. That

Trust nothing. No, I am not talking about the pre-draft chatter that the San Francisco 49ers are locked in on Alabama quarterback Mac Jones with the No. 3 overall pick. Although, I tend not to trust pre-draft chatter either. I am talking about April Fools' Day. Sorry, George Kittle. No one is falling for this one. The 49ers' All-Pro tight end tweeted out the following, hoping to fool some gullible fans by suggesting that he had been traded to the Jacksonville Jaguars. He even included a mock-up of himself in his new uniform. Next chapter... thanks to the faithful for all the support!

Here's what 3 sources told Dan Patrick about the 49ers and the No. 3 draft pick

Dan Patrick shared some insight into what the San Francisco 49ers are planning to do with the No. 3 overall pick after trading some hefty draft capital last week to move into that spot. Many analysts are projecting Alabama quarterback Mac Jones to be the pick, but others feel he could have been had with a later selection. Would Jones have made it all the way down to No. 12, the 49ers' original spot? Maybe not. But selecting him at No. 3 is viewed by many as a massive reach. With Trevor Lawrence of Clemson and Zach Wilson of BYU expected to be off the board by the 49ers' selection, both Justin Fields of Ohio State and Trey Lance of North Dakota State are widely seen as passers with higher ceilings compared to Jones. So, what is Patrick hearing? "Yeah,
