49ers cut 22 to get to their 53-man roster

Even though the deadline is not until 6 p.m. on Saturday, the San Francisco 49ers got to work early on their roster cuts. The team cut 22 players today, bringing their roster count down to the mandatory 53.

Quarterback Nate Davis was not among those cuts after there were a few whispers that the team might let him go.

Below is a list of all the players cut today (listed alphabetically).

Mel Kiper's latest mock draft has 49ers adding pass rusher at No. 31

ESPN analyst Mel Kiper unveiled his latest mock draft, projecting the 32 selections of the first round. For the first time since 2021, the San Francisco 49ers own a first-round selection and could use the pick to bolster the offensive line or the defensive backfield. However, Kiper has the team going in another direction. He proposes adding a pass rusher to complement defensive end Nick Bosa on the opposite side. All eyes will be on Brandon Aiyuk's contract situation this offseason. As the San Francisco 49ers cleaned out their locker rooms last week, the wide receiver was asked if he hopes to remain with the team that drafted him, to which he replied, "If that's the right move, yeah." The "right move" means securing a contract extension that places Aiyuk among the highest-paid receivers in the NFL. The 49ers have already invested significantly in Aiyuk's teammate, Deebo Samuel.
