The San Francisco 49ers officially announced the signing of wide receiver Mohamed Sanu Friday, while placing wide receiver Richie James on injured reserve due to a hamstring injury. Sanu, 31, is in his ninth NFL season after being selected by the Cincinnati Bengals in the third round of the 2012 NFL Draft out of Rutgers. Sanu spent four seasons with the Bengals before moving on to the Atlanta Falcons in 2016, where he remained until being traded to the New England Patriots in 2019. Some defensive line help may be on the way. It looks like Ezekiel "Ziggy" Ansah's gamble to turn down an offer from the San Francisco 49ers and await a better offer from a more desperate team paid off. That more desperate team, however, is now the 49ers after second-year defensive end Nick Bosa left Week 2's win over the New York Jets with what is believed to be a season-ending ACL injury.
