Trey Lance went down late in the first quarter of the San Francisco 49ers' 27-7 win over the Seattle Seahawks. It was an injury so concerning that the second-year quarterback couldn't make it off the field on his own. He tried to get up, but pressure on his right leg, and immediately went back down to the turf. There was a great deal of concern from his teammates for Lance as he was carted off the field and into the locker room for further tests. The 49ers later announced that Lance was ruled out due to an ankle injury. ESPN's Adam Schefter reports that Lance's season may be over. The quarterback is expected to require surgery, likely ending his season. So it will probably be Jimmy Garoppolo's job moving

The San Francisco 49ers managed to overcome the loss of their starting quarterback, Trey Lance, in Sunday's 27-7 victory over the Seattle Seahawks. Jimmy Garoppolo, who was re-signed to a restructured one-year deal before the start of the season, replaced the second-year quarterback. The early news coming out of Santa Clara on Lance's status hasn't been good. The quarterback was ruled out due to an ankle injury. The news got worse when ESPN's Adam Schefter reported that Lance is expected to undergo surgery, likely ending his 2022

49ers' third QB options for this season and beyond

Brock Purdy is now one injury away from starting. While the San Francisco 49ers have expressed a lot of confidence in the last overall pick in this year's draft, having the rookie lead a championship-caliber roster probably isn't ideal. Veteran Jimmy Garoppolo is the starter moving forward following the season-ending injury to Trey Lance, last year's No. 3 overall pick. Lance will undergo surgery today on the broken ankle suffered in the first quarter of Sunday's 27-7 win over the Seattle Seahawks. Purdy hasn't even been active in San Francisco's two games this season. However, he may suit up for Sunday's matchup against the Denver Broncos. Fullback Kyle Juszczyk
