The San Francisco 49ers have signed RB Jeremy McNichols to the team's practice squad and released TE Troy Fumagalli. The 49ers Communications staff provided the following rundown. McNichols (5-9, 205) was originally drafted by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the fifth round (162nd overall) of the 2017 NFL Draft. Throughout his five-year NFL career with the Buccaneers, San Francisco 49ers (2017), Indianapolis Colts (2018), Jacksonville Jaguars (2019) and Tennessee Titans (2020-21), he has appeared in 34 games and registered 90 carries for 364 yards (4.0 average) and one touchdown on the ground to go along with 40 receptions for 295 yards (7.4 average) and one touchdown through the air. Kyle Shanahan reveals 49ers contract extensions were finalized before the season

Last week, the San Francisco 49ers announced they had signed head coach Kyle Shanahan and general manager John Lynch to multi-year contract extensions, keeping the team's brain trust together for the foreseeable future. However, Shanahan revealed that the deals had been finalized for a while. "We did it before the Pittsburgh game (Week 1), so I had already celebrated with my family and stuff like that, which is huge," Shanahan told reporters on Wednesday. "I feel very grateful just being a coach anywhere for a long time. I know what that means, and I'm extremely grateful for that, to have that opportunity, and mainly for my family to be somewhere for so long, which is cool." 49ers' Kyle Shanahan on what's different about Deebo Samuel this season

This past offseason, San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Deebo Samuel had a very productive meeting with his head coach, Kyle Shanahan. On Tuesday, Shanahan admitted to initiating the conversation, knowing that his star receiver could do much more than he showed in 2022. "Deebo comes to talk a lot, but I'd say I started that conversation a little bit," Shanahan told reporters. Samuel held out for a new contract last offseason, even asking to be traded ahead of the draft. The rift between player and team eventually ended that July, at the start of training camp. By then, the receiver had already missed much of the offseason. Samuel was coming off a breakout 2021 campaign that saw the player rack up 1,770 all-purpose yards and 14 total touchdowns. He
