After representing the NFC in last season's Super Bowl, the San Francisco 49ers are once again poised as championship contenders for the upcoming 2024 season. The team has been to four NFC Championship Games and two Super Bowls over the past five seasons.
Success begets popularity, as evidenced by the remarkable presence of six 49ers players in the NFLPA's rankings of officially licensed NFL player products and merchandise.
Merchandise featuring Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts led the charts as the best-selling merchandise athlete from March 1, 2023, through February 29, 2024. The first 49ers player on the list is running back Christian McCaffrey, claiming the No. 5 spot. He is coming off an impressive 2023 campaign, in which he led the NFL with 2,023 scrimmage yards and accounted for 21 total touchdowns.
McCaffrey's popularity among fans has been further affirmed by his recent selection as the cover athlete for the latest installment of the popular EA Sports video game franchise, Madden NFL 25.
Close behind McCaffrey on the NFLPA's merchandise ranking is quarterback Brock Purdy, who secured the No. 8 position. The young signal-caller set a single-season franchise record in his second NFL season with 4,280 passing yards.
Below is a list of every 49ers player who appeared in the top 50.
