Two standout San Francisco 49ers players have received nominations for weekly awards. Quarterback Brock Purdy is in the running for the FedEx Air NFL Player of the Week, while running back Christian McCaffrey is a nominee for the FedEx Ground NFL Player of the Week.
This marks Purdy's fourth nomination, having secured the award twice previously. For McCaffrey, it's his fifth nomination, with four previous victories.
The nominations follow stellar performances in the 49ers' commanding 28-16 victory over the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday. Purdy's impressive stats include completing 19 of 27 passes (70.4 percent) for 368 yards, two touchdowns, and a passer rating of 122.1. Meanwhile, McCaffrey delivered a formidable rushing display, accumulating 145 yards on 16 carries, averaging an impressive 9.1 yards per carry.
Competing with Purdy for the FedEx Air NFL Player of the Week award are Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson, who completed 24 of 43 attempts (55.8 percent) for 316 yards and three touchdowns in Week 14, and Cleveland Browns quarterback Joe Flacco, who went 26 of 45 attempts (57.8 percent) for 311 yards and three touchdowns.
In the FedEx Ground NFL Player of the Week category, McCaffrey faces competition from Los Angeles Rams running back Kyren Williams, who rushed for 114 yards on 25 carries (4.6 avg.) in Week 14, and Tampa Bay Buccaneers running back Rachaad White, who gained 102 yards on 25 carries (4.1 avg.).
