The San Francisco 49ers are holding their first training camp practice ahead of the 2023 season. While Brock Purdy is cleared to practice, the quarterback is not participating today aside from going through the motions (see below). The 49ers are giving Purdy a break as training camp kicks off and will continue to do so until he can handle a full workload.

That leaves quarterbacks Trey Lance and Sam Darnold getting most of the workload, with Brandon Allen mixed in.

Below are practice videos posted to social media from various sources.

Kyle Shanahan expects Steve Wilks, other coaches to be back with 49ers next season

By Kirk Larrabee

Whether or not the weeks ahead bring any further fluctuation to the San Francisco 49ers' coaching staff remains to be seen, but as of Tuesday, head coach Kyle Shanahan carried the belief that his remaining coaches would be back with the team next season. That includes defensive coordinator Steve Wilks, who had some ups-and-downs in his first season with the team and went through interviews in January for the then-vacant head coaching positions of the Los Angeles Chargers and Atlanta Falcons. The 49ers saw passing game coordinator Klint Kubiak depart in recent days to become the offensive coordinator of the New Orleans Saints, but it doesn't seem like any other departures are imminent. Shanahan was asked during his season-ending press conference Tuesday with

Here is everything they had to say. Transcript provided by the San Francisco 49ers Communications staff. What has the last 48 hours been like for you guys? JL: "It's been tough. It's gut wrenching. I think most of all, watching our players hurt, watching our coaches hurt, our staff, everybody who pours so much into this, our families. People forget the sacrifice that families make in an effort to go compete at the highest level. And it's exactly what we had an opportunity to do. That's exactly the stage that we put ourselves on. 49ers proud of what Brock Purdy accomplished this season

By David Bonilla
Feb 13

Brock Purdy is not why the San Francisco 49ers lost Super Bowl 58. Most people would agree with that assessment. The second-year quarterback's statistics might not be enough to sway the opinions of his critics, who have labeled Purdy as a "game manager" since his first start. However, it was certainly enough to beat the Kansas City Chiefs had the 49ers played something closer to mistake-free football. Purdy threw for 4,280 passing yards, setting a new single-season franchise record. He was a finalist for the league's coveted MVP award. He led two comeback victories in the postseason. On Tuesday, during the team's final meeting of the season, Purdy learned his teammates voted him the Len Eshmont Award recipient, an honor bestowed on the player who best exemplifies
