There probably wasn't much concern inside the San Francisco 49ers building surrounding running back
Christian McCaffrey's availability for Sunday's NFC Championship Game matchup against the Philadelphia Eagles. When asked about the chances of not playing this weekend,
McCaffrey responded, "Zero."
The media has kept an eye on the situation because McCaffrey missed the first two practices this week due to a calf contusion. The running back was back on the practice field on Friday, though, indicating he will be ready to go against the Eagles.
The bad news is that running back
Elijah Mitchell, who also missed Wednesday's and Thursday's practices, was not on the field for Friday's session. Mitchell is dealing with a groin injury.
The 49ers will issue their official game status reports this afternoon. That's when we'll learn how the team lists McCaffrey and Mitchell for the upcoming playoff game.
San Francisco traded for McCaffrey on October 20, 2022. He has started each of the 49ers' past 12 games, and the team is undefeated in those contests.
McCaffrey registered 1,880 total yards and 13 total touchdowns during the regular season, adding 193 all-purpose yards and two total touchdowns in San Francisco's two playoff games.

Sam Darnold eager to learn from 49ers, reunite with Christian McCaffrey
It feels like Sam Darnold has been in the NFL for a while now. It isn't easy to believe that the newest San Francisco 49ers quarterback is only 25 years old, despite already starting 55 NFL games.
Darnold, speaking with 49ers team reporter Lindsey Pallares after signing his one-year deal with San Francisco, shared his eagerness to learn and continue to develop under head coach Kyle Shanahan.
"I think there's a ton of ways [for me] to grow and develop," Darnold said, "just by getting tons and tons of reps throughout practice and being able to watch film, sit down with Kyle, sit down with [quarterback coach Brian] Griese and the other quarterbacks, Trey [Lance] and Brock [Purdy]; just to be
Packers' Christian Watson: 49ers QB Trey Lance has "everything that it takes"
Trey Lance entered this past season as the starting quarterback for the San Francisco 49ers. However, a season-ending ankle injury during Week 2 ended his 2022 campaign, opening the door for Jimmy Garoppolo and, eventually, rookie Brock Purdy.
Purdy, the last overall pick in the 2022 NFL Draft, showed that he could play at the pro level. The first-year passer entered the game for an injured Garoppolo, leading the 49ers to a Week 13 win over the Miami Dolphins, followed by seven consecutive victories as a starter.
Had Purdy not suffered a tear of the ulnar collateral ligament (UCL) in his right elbow in the NFC Championship Game against the Philadelphia Eagles, he would likely be the undisputed Week 1 starter for the 2023 season. Of course, the 49ers
49ers met with Wisconsin S John Torchio, who may attend local pro day ahead of NFL Draft
According to Rohan Chakravarthi, the San Francisco 49ers spoke with Wisconsin safety John Torchio on Thursday at the school's pro day. The defensive back may attend the team's local pro day before the 2023 NFL Draft.
Torchio (6-1, 208) registered 55 tackles, three tackles for a loss, a sack, six passes defensed, five interceptions, and two touchdowns through 13 game appearances as a senior in 2022, per Sports Reference. He recorded 97 tackles, seven tackles for a loss, 1.5 sacks, seven passes defensed, nine interceptions, and two touchdowns through his four collegiate
Javon Hargrave: 49ers-Eagles would have been a different game with a healthy Brock Purdy
Everything changed in the NFC Championship Game when quarterback Brock Purdy exited early with an injury. He eventually returned because his backup, Josh Johnson, exited with a concussion. Purdy could not throw, though. He suffered a tear of the ulnar collateral ligament (UCL) in his right elbow, leaving the San Francisco 49ers to become one-dimensional, abandoning the pass and depending solely on the run game.
For fans, it was a difficult game to watch. Everyone anticipated a more evenly matched battle between the two best teams in the NFC. Instead, they got an Eagles powerhouse defense going against a limping 49ers offense.
"We kind of knew it was going to be different when all you can do is run the ball," former Eagles defensive tackle Javon Hargrave said
