San Francisco 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan jumped on a conference call with reporters on Monday, the morning after the team's 38-13 victory over the Arizona Cardinals in its regular-season finale. The coach provided several injury updates as the 49ers begin preparations for its playoff game against the Seattle Seahawks.
Linebacker Demetrius Flannigan-Fowles left Sunday's game in the first quarter and did not return. He sustained a neck sprain and is day-to-day, per Shanahan.
While that was the only in-game injury, Shanahan did provide some updates on other injured players.
"Guys coming back this week: [G] Aaron Banks and [LB Dre] Greenlaw," Shanahan said. "Hopefully, we'll get them back in practice at some point this week. [DT] Kevin Givens is good to go, and [CB] Ambry Thomas irritated his ankle. We'll see how he progresses."
Shanahan also discussed two players who made their returns from injuries against the Cardinals—wide receiver Deebo Samuel (MCL and ankle sprains) and running back Elijah Mitchell (MCL sprain). Sunday was the first action for both since their injuries occurred.
"They came out great," Shanahan said. "First, they came out healthy, which is very important. With them being able to come out healthy, I thought it was great that they both got to play some and get back in there, and I think it will help them going into this week."
San Francisco hosts Seattle on Saturday, January 14, at Levi's Stadium.
