Jay Glazer reports that Nolan has been fired

Oct 20, 2008 at 4:57 PM--

According to Jay Glazer of FOXSports.com, San Francisco 49ers head coach Mike Nolan has already been fired.

This comes after a report from ESPN saying that Nolan would be let go after Sunday's game against the Seahawks. It makes sense that the 49ers would make a move immediately due to the leak being made public.

It is assumed that assistant head coach Mike Singletary will take over for Nolan.

The story has already been reported by Pro Football Talk.

Glazer: 49ers still have faith in Trey Lance, QB surprised teammates last week

Shortly after undergoing surgery to repair the damage caused by his broken ankle in Week 2, San Francisco 49ers quarterback Trey Lance called his head coach, Kyle Shanahan. Eager to rejoin his squad, he wanted to know if he could travel to Denver for the team's game against the Broncos. Obviously, that was out of the question with the quarterback only days removed from the procedure. The swelling has to go down before traveling becomes an option. Lance was persistent, though. He couldn't travel with his teammates but was able to join them for that Friday's team meetings in Santa Clara. It was just four days after his surgery, and was a pleasant surprise for everyone. "Everybody came up, gave him hugs," FOX Sports insider Jay Glazer shared during a

John Lynch: George Kittle has 'looked good' in practices ahead of 49ers-Broncos

The San Francisco 49ers' All-Pro tight end, George Kittle, practiced for the second consecutive day. He appears on track to make his 2022 season debut on Sunday against the Denver Broncos after sustaining a groin injury on September 5. "Well, George, he's had two good practices, so that's a great thing," general manager John Lynch told KNBR's Tom Tolbert and Adam Copeland. "George, he's got a lot of really special qualities. Number one, he's really good at what he does, and he's a very versatile player in that he's very good in the run game [and] he's very good in the pass game. "But there is another quality that George brings to this team. He kind of lifts us. He lifts everybody around here because he's a character. But it's real; it's genuine. And he just lifts

John Lynch not concerned about Jimmy Garoppolo's competitive nature, doesn't believe QB has resentment towards 49ers

On Friday, general manager John Lynch had a chance to respond to some of the fallout resulting from the San Francisco 49ers' Week 3 loss to the Denver Broncos. Much of the blame has been placed on the shoulders of quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo. However, it isn't just for his poor play on the football field, leading to the 11-10 loss in the Mile High City. Former 49ers tight end Brent Jones criticized Garoppolo for his lack of frustration following the Week 3 defeat. Garoppolo was seen smiling as he greeted an old teammate, offensive tackle Cameron Fleming, who was part of the same New England Patriots 2014 draft class as the 49ers quarterback. "It almost

Has Jimmy Garoppolo progressed since 2017? 49ers coach Kyle Shanahan weighs in

Kyle Shanahan doesn't believe Jimmy Garoppolo can carry the San Francisco 49ers alone. That's not necessarily a knock on the quarterback. The head coach would probably feel the same way about any signal-caller on the field. Garoppolo made 178 pass attempts after the New England Patriots traded him to the 49ers in 2017. It felt like the quarterback used his arm much more once he hit the field. Garoppolo was impressive, and fans everywhere felt the Niners had their next great quarterback. Things changed after that. Some of that is because the 49ers started to improve as a whole. Shanahan didn't ask Garoppolo to do as much compared to those five starts in 2017. Shanahan joined KNBR after Friday's practice. The coach was asked if he believes Garoppolo
