49ers-Seahawks Injury Report: George Kittle still sidelined from practice

Sep 14, 2022 at 3:48 PM--

The San Francisco 49ers are preparing for their Week 2 contest against the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday at Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara, California.

The 49ers hope to get their All-Pro tight end, George Kittle, back in time for Sunday's game. Kittle suffered a groin strain last week and missed the Week 1 contest against the Chicago Bears.

"He's made progress, so hopefully, we'll have better luck this week," head coach Kyle Shanahan said before practice.

Offensive lineman Daniel Brunskill continues to miss practices after suffering a setback with his hamstring injury last week.

"We were thinking he'd be ready for Week 1, and he had that setback," Shanahan said. "So he'll be later in this week, but I'm not sure yet. [His chances of playing are] not good right now."

The 49ers gave tackle Trent Williams a veteran day off.

Quarterback Trey Lance said he woke up on Monday morning with a sore neck but didn't sound too concerned about it.

"I felt fine," Lance said. "My neck, honestly, was a little sore. That was the first thing because I don't get hit at all throughout the year. So guys kind of get to build up, get their necks ready for the season. My neck was the biggest thing, but other than that, I feel good."

Below are Wednesday's practice participation reports for both the 49ers and Seahawks, which were provided by the 49ers Communications staff.

By David Bonilla

The San Francisco 49ers are preparing for their Week 2 contest against the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday at Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara, California. Tight end George Kittle missed his fifth consecutive practice since suffering a groin strain on September 5, decreasing his chances of playing on Sunday. Offensive lineman Daniel Brunskill also continues to be sidelined as he attempts to return from a hamstring injury. On Wednesday, head coach Kyle Shanahan didn't sound too optimistic about Brunskill's chances of playing against the Seahawks. "We were thinking he'd be ready for Week 1, and he had that setback," Shanahan said. "So he'll be later in

The San Francisco 49ers are preparing for their Week 2 contest against the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday at Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara, California. Today's biggest injury-related news is the return of tight end George Kittle to practice. He had missed the past five practices, including two this week, after suffering a groin strain on September 5. Kittle missed the 49ers' Week 1 matchup against the Chicago Bears. While he is officially listed as "questionable" for Sunday, his return to practice bodes well for his chances of a return. Head coach Kyle Shanahan said there is more optimism regarding Kittle's chances of playing compared to last week. The team will

49ers-Seahawks: Kyle Shanahan says George Kittle still has a chance to play, isn't optimistic about Daniel Brunskill

Neither tight end George Kittle nor offensive lineman Daniel Brunskill practiced on Thursday. That's not a good sign regarding their potential availability for Sunday's pivotal Week 2 matchup between the San Francisco 49ers and the Seattle Seahawks. Kittle has not practiced since suffering a groin strain on September 5. Brunskill suffered a hamstring injury during the 49ers' exhibition opener and hasn't practiced since. Neither suited up this past weekend against the Chicago Bears. "Neither of them were able to [practice] today," Shanahan said Thursday on KNBR. "I'm holding out more hope for George. We haven't ruled Brunskill out yet, I don't believe, but I'd be shocked if Brunskill made it. George still has a chance." The 49ers are coming off a
