Trey Lance played football at Marshall High School in Marshall, Minnesota. The school has a strong presence today at TCO Performance Minnesota for the joint practice between the San Francisco 49ers and Minnesota Vikings. The Vikings arranged to have buses filled with athletes, coaches, and staff to watch Lance (and the Vikings, of course). According to the school's head football coach, Terry Bahlmann, 115 people from the high school are there.

The 49ers don't expect Lance to play in Saturday's preseason matchup between the two teams, so this is the last opportunity for those from Marshall High School to see the alum and rising NFL star.

On Wednesday, Lance was asked what this homecoming meant for him.

"I was excited, for sure," Lance said. "I get to see my family, see some friends. But it's work at this point. I come out here; these two days of practice should be awesome for us, and Saturday as well. ... The Vikings, appreciate them, they actually got some buses from my high school team to come out tomorrow, so I get to say what's up to some high school coaches and some teammates as well."

"Thank God for Mr. Irrelevant": John Lynch reflects on 49ers drafting Trey Lance

By David Bonilla
Apr 22

The decision to trade up in the 2021 NFL Draft and select quarterback Trey Lance could have had significant consequences for general manager John Lynch and head coach Kyle Shanahan. With the team lacking first-round picks in the last two drafts due to this move, and Lance no longer on the roster after being traded to the Dallas Cowboys before last season, it's clear the gamble didn't unfold as expected. Lynch held his annual pre-draft press conference on Monday, reflecting on the decision to take such a big chance on Lance. While such a bold move might have jeopardized jobs elsewhere, Lynch and Shanahan were blessed with some good fortune in the 2022 NFL Draft. Acknowledging the support of the team's ownership, Lynch stated, "They believe in Kyle and I, and our

PFF high on this cornerback for 49ers in mock draft

By David Bonilla
Apr 15

Analyst Dane Brugler of The Athletic grades former Iowa State cornerback T.J. Tampa as a second or third-round draft pick and ranks him 55th overall on his big board. Pro Football Focus, however, holds a higher opinion of the young defensive back. In his latest mock draft, the site's lead analyst, Sam Monson, has the San Francisco 49ers selecting Tampa with the No. 31 overall pick. "T.J. Tampa fits the prototype of a 49ers cornerback," Monson explains. "He has had consecutive seasons of very impressive play and allowed just 240 yards on 49 targets last season. The team doesn't necessarily need him to make an immediate impact, but they could

The San Francisco 49ers announced the signing of wide receiver Trent Taylor to a one-year deal, reuniting with the team's former fifth-round draft pick out of Louisiana Tech. Matt Maiocco of NBC Sports Bay Area was the first to report that the 49ers were discussing a potential reunion with Taylor. The receiver was part of head coach Kyle Shanahan and general manager John Lynch's first draft class in 2017 and spent his first four NFL seasons with the team. The #49ers are talking with free-agent slot receiver/return man

Former NFL WR: Brandon Aiyuk told me he doesn't want to leave 49ers

By David Bonilla
Apr 22

Former NFL wide receiver T.J. Houshmandzadeh claims to have recently spoken to Brandon Aiyuk, stating that the star player has no desire to leave the San Francisco 49ers. Aiyuk and the 49ers are currently negotiating a contract extension, aiming to finalize a new deal. Of course, that hasn't prevented significant media speculation surrounding Aiyuk's future, with many wondering if the delay might hint at a potential trade. Well-informed 49ers fans know that the team typically finalizes its significant contract extensions closer to training camp, as seen with George Kittle in 2020, Fred Warner in 2021, and Deebo Samuel in 2022. Last year, negotiations with Nick Bosa concluded just days before Week
