The San Francisco 49ers added nine new players during the three days of the 2022 NFL Draft, which wrapped up on Saturday. Their first selection didn't come until the No. 61 overall pick in the second round when the team added USC defensive end Drake Jackson. The 49ers went on to select three more defensive players and five offensive players.
Surprisingly, the 49ers didn't trade any draft picks over the three-day event. The team typically likes to move around during drafts.

Now, the 49ers will get to work on signing the members of the new draft class. Thanks to the NFL Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA), which was ratified in 2020 and extends through the 2030 season, all rookie contracts are for a length of four years.
First-round selections come with an option for a fifth year, which doesn't apply to the 49ers with this rookie class. NFL teams with players selected in the first round are required to activate the player's fifth-year option before the fourth and final year of the rookie deal.
Having set numbers for each spot eliminates the need to negotiate salaries and only leaves items like bonus payment terms, roster bonus allocations, and other miscellaneous structural items. It's those extra items that can stall an agreement.
The 49ers will have an estimated rookie pool of $7,727,220 in 2022, according to OverTheCap.com's estimations.
