Azeez Al-Shaair, a restricted free agent, has signed his one-year tender with the San Francisco 49ers. In March, the team gave the linebacker a second-round tender worth nearly $4 million. That's a nice pay raise for a player who earned $1.77 million in his first three NFL seasons.
LB Azeez Al-Shaair has signed his RFA tender and is now taking part in the 49ers' offseason program. Now both he and Dre Greenlaw are in line to be unrestricted free agents in March.
San Francisco signed Al-Shaair (6-2, 228) as an undrafted free agent out of Florida Atlantic in 2019. He had his best season in 2021, registering a career-high 102 tackles to go along with his two sacks, five passes defensed, interception, and forced fumble through 13 starts, per Pro Football Reference. Only linebacker Fred Warner had more tackles (137) on the 49ers defense last season.
Al-Shaair, 24, has recorded 155 tackles, 10 tackles for a loss, three quarterback hits, two sacks, seven passes defensed, two interceptions, and two forced fumbles in 44 game appearances (22 starts) through his three NFL seasons.
