Former San Francisco 49ers defensive end Arden Key found his next home following several free agency visits, signing a one-year, $4 million deal with the Jacksonville Jaguars for the 2022 season.
Key accumulated 6.5 sacks last season as a member of the 49ers, with most of his production coming in the latter half of the season, when the 49ers utilized him as an interior rusher in passing situations.
Being just 25 years old and garnering just $4 million in guaranteed money on a one-year deal, should the 49ers have re-signed Key?
Earlier in the offseason, Key expressed his intentions to return to the 49ers on an Instagram Live, adding that while San Francisco was his desired destination, there had to be mutual interest to a contract of Key's liking.
With Key now officially moving forward, it appears that the 49ers are poised to select a defensive end in the draft with one of their earlier picks, although, those plans could change with the potential signing of former Indianapolis Colts defensive end Kemoko Turay, who had 5.5 sacks last season, despite playing in just 13 games and for 27% of the defensive snaps.
49ers insider: I would be surprised if Brandon Aiyuk isn't signed to a new deal

As expected, the most significant storyline surrounding the San Francisco 49ers this offseason revolves around the contract negotiations with star wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk. There hasn't been much official chatter on that front aside from general manager John Lynch and head coach Kyle Shanahan assuring reporters that every effort is being made to retain Aiyuk.
That hasn't stopped the rampant speculation from the media, with reports of interest from teams like the Jacksonville Jaguars and Pittsburgh Steelers, as well as former teammate
Should the 49ers be worried about Christian McCaffrey's workload?
By Al Sacco

It's not an exaggeration to say that RB Christian McCaffrey is coming off one of the best individual seasons in the history of the San Francisco 49ers.
In his first full year in red and gold, McCaffrey led the NFL in rushing yards (1,459), total yards (2,023) and total touchdowns (21) on his way to becoming Offensive Player of the Year. His yards on the ground were the fourth most ever for a Niners running back and his 21 touchdowns trailed only WR Jerry Rice's team record of 23, which the Hall of Famer accomplished in just 12 games in 1987. McCaffrey was also prolific in the passing game, hauling in 67 receptions and often providing a safety net for QB Brock Purdy.
Because McCaffrey has meant so much to Kyle Shanahan's scheme, it's easy to see why the offense

The San Francisco 49ers announced the signing of wide receiver Trent Taylor to a one-year deal, reuniting with the team's former fifth-round draft pick out of Louisiana Tech.
Matt Maiocco of NBC Sports Bay Area was the first to report that the 49ers were discussing a potential reunion with Taylor. The receiver was part of head coach Kyle Shanahan and general manager John Lynch's first draft class in 2017 and spent his first four NFL seasons with the team.
