49ers-Texans Injury Report: Still no Jimmy Garoppolo; Dre Greenlaw practices

Dec 30, 2021 at 4:13 PM--

The San Francisco 49ers are preparing for their Week 17 contest against the Houston Texans on Sunday at Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara, California.

Linebacker Dre Greenlaw returned to practice. He has been inactive for the past four games. Greenlaw has appeared in just two games (Week 1, 12) this season.

By David Bonilla

Dre Greenlaw underwent a minor procedure after last season on his finger. The San Francisco 49ers linebacker is still working his way through the recovery process. That's why he's not with his teammates during organized team activities (OTAs). "Yeah, nothing major," Greenlaw said Thursday on KNBR's Papa & Lund show. "Just a little clean up in the thumb. [It] was giving me some problems, just whenever I was punching at the ball or whenever I had to use my hands on O-linemen. [My] finger was just really jammed up, so I just had to get it cleaned up and fixed. "It's going really well right now, so I'm just waiting, I guess. Now, I think they're going to keep me out of OTAs for the most part, just because you don't want any setbacks right now. But it's

Ex-49ers QB Jimmy Garoppolo underwent foot surgery in March

By David Bonilla
May 25

One of the biggest criticisms about Jimmy Garoppolo has been his availability. The quarterback wins football games but has been available for an entire season just once in his career—in 2019. Garoppolo's latest injury occurred on December 4 while with the San Francisco 49ers. The veteran left a regular-season game against the Miami Dolphins with a foot injury. It was later revealed that he suffered a broken foot and would miss significant time. However, it wasn't believed to require surgery. That led to the emergence of Brock Purdy, the seventh-round draft pick that took the NFL by storm. He led the 49ers to the NFC Championship Game before suffering an injury himself. Garoppolo remained on the 49ers' 53-man roster through all that. The 49ers

What to make of Jeff Darlington's report on 49ers QB Trey Lance's first-team reps

By David Bonilla
May 31

ESPN's Jeff Darlington recently appeared on the network's NFL Live show and discussed the San Francisco 49ers' quarterback situation, highlighting Trey Lance's healthy state and current workload during organized team activities (OTAs). "Trey Lance is the guy during OTAs who's been taking all the 1st-team reps; he's healthy at this point," Darlington said, per Dov Kleiman of BroBible. "Sam Darnold really getting backup duty as he kinda gets his playbook under his belt. But for now, Trey Lance getting his opportunity with those first-team reps." What is the takeaway from these comments? Nothing, really. We
