4th Quarter


GAME ALERT: The 49ers defeat the Chargers 15-10 to get their first preseason win this year.



SACK ALERT: 49ers DL Kentavious Street sacks QB Chase Daniel on the second-to-last play of the game. Adds yet another one for the total.

Chargers DL Jessie Lemonier has a costly roughing-the-passer penalty on third down on Nate Sudfeld that likely seals the game for the 49ers.


CLOSE GAME ALERT: After a key stop forcing a punt, the 49ers retain possession at their own 11-yard line with 2:01 remaining in the game.


CLOSE GAME ALERT: The Chargers have the ball at their own 43-yard line with 3:19 left in the 4th down 15-10.


Penalties have haunted both teams as the 49ers have 11 penalties for 103 yards and the Chargers have 11 penalties for 90 yards.

INJURY UPDATE: 49ers guard Senio Kelemete was injured on a seven-yard run by JaMycal Hasty. He got off on his own power.


SACK ALERT: 49ers safety Kai Nacua sacks quarterback Chase Daniel on a 22-yard loss, which eventually forced a Chargers punt.


TURNOVER ALERT: On the first play after the interception, the 49ers fumble the football off a miscommunicated snap. Cole Christiansen gets the fumble recovery. The Chargers get the ball back down 15-10 with 12:21 remaining in the 4th quarter.


TURNOVER ALERT: Chargers quarterback Chase Daniel is intercepted by DB Jared Mayden whose touchdown return was nullified by a holding penalty.


3rd Quarter


END OF QUARTER: The 49ers lead the Chargers 15-10 at the end of the third quarter.

Trey Lance's night is over. Nate Sudfeld enters the game and his first drive results in a punt. This was Sudfeld's first snaps of the preseason.


SCORE ALERT: Trey Lance fires a bullet to Travis Benjamin for the 16-yard touchdown on 3rd & 4. Once again, Lance went through his progressions to the outside routes and found his guy streaking over the middle. The 49ers lead the Chargers 15-10 with 5:01 left in the third.


Trey Lance's first official NFL run comes off a beautiful play where he correctly analyzed the defense and burst through for a first down.


Trey Lance's first drive of the half ends in a punt. Lance was sacked on the drive as well.

2nd Quarter


HALFTIME: The Chargers lead the 49ers 10-8 at the half.

SCORE ALERT: Trey Lance delivers a strike to Mohammed Sanu for a five-yard touchdown to cap a six-play, 75-yard drive that lasted only 45 seconds. The Chargers now lead 10-8 after a missed extra point by Robbie Gould.



REDZONE ALERT: 49ers quarterback Trey Lance drops a beautiful 41-yard dime to Trent Sherfield on the sideline, who stays in bounds and gets in the redzone.


SCORE ALERT: Chargers kicker Michael Badgley nails a 50-yard field goal to extend Los Angeles's lead to 10-2 against the 49ers. 57 seconds left in the half.


49ers safety Talanoa Hufanga perfectly times a rush and goes untouched to tackle Los Angeles running back Joshua Kelley in the backfield for a loss.


At the two-minute warning, the Chargers lead the 49ers 7-2 and have possession of the ball at the SF 19 on 1st & 10.

SACK ALERT: Trey Lance is met by multiple Chargers on 3rd & 5 and is sacked by LB Kyler Fackrell to force a punt.


Jimmy Garoppolo's night is likely over. While he was supposed to have a second drive, Lance has come back out for his third drive.


SCORE ALERT: Chargers QB Easton Stick finds rookie Josh Palmer in the endzone for a three-yard touchdown. Chargers now lead 7-2 with 5:49 left in the second quarter.



TURNOVER ALERT: 49ers QB Trey Lance is intercepted by CB Tevaughn Campbell off a deflected pass at the SF 32 with 9:07 left in the second quarter.



SCORE/SACK ALERT: 49ers DE Jordan Willis sacks QB Easton Stick in the endzone on 3rd & 11 for a safety. The 49ers lead 2-0.


Trey Lance's first drive ends in a punt as he throws an incomplete pass to Deebo Samuel on 3rd & 8. The Chargers will get the ball at their own 8 yard-line.

1st Quarter


END OF QUARTER: Neither team has reached the scoreboard as the 49ers and Chargers remain tied at 0 to end the first quarter.

TURNOVER ALERT: QB Jimmy Garoppolo is intercepted by rookie CB Asante Samuel on a deflected pass intended for WR Brandon Aiyuk at the LAC 15 with 4:32 remaining in the first.

The San Francisco 49ers announced the signing of wide receiver Trent Taylor to a one-year deal, reuniting with the team's former fifth-round draft pick out of Louisiana Tech. Matt Maiocco of NBC Sports Bay Area was the first to report that the 49ers were discussing a potential reunion with Taylor. The receiver was part of head coach Kyle Shanahan and general manager John Lynch's first draft class in 2017 and spent his first four NFL seasons with the team. According to Aaron Wilson of KPRC2, the team will host former Western Kentucky wide receiver Malachi Corley on Wednesday. Corley is expected to be a Day 2 pick.
