If you are looking to be part of the game-day celebrations for the induction of Bryant Young, Patrick Willis, and John Taylor into the Edward J. DeBartolo Sr. San Francisco 49ers Hall of Fame, there are two games for which you will want to purchase tickets.
Team CEO Jed York revealed last month during the "State of the Franchise" that this year's inductees, Willis and Taylor, will be honored during the Week 15 home game against the Atlanta Falcons. That's one of the four games in which 49ers players will wear their new red throwback uniforms.
Young was last year's inductee but couldn't be honored in front of fans due to the pandemic. The former defender joined 95.7 The Game this week and was asked when his ceremony would take place.
"So, November 6th and 7th — that weekend," Young responded on The Morning Roast. "That Saturday, the ceremony will be at the stadium — at Levi's Stadium. And then Sunday, the game is Arizona. And so November 6th and 7th. That's the weekend that they'll do the ceremony, so I'm excited about it. I'm glad that things have opened up, and we're able to get it done this year."
Interestingly, that Week 9 game is not one of the four in which players will wear the new throwback uniforms. Instead, the team will don its new duds in the home games surrounding that matchup — Week 7 against the Indianapolis Colts and Week 10 against the Los Angeles Rams.
"It's not about just me being celebrated," Young continued. "I want to make sure that the people that I have the relationships (with), I played with, the organization, they're celebrated too because everybody was a part of the success and the long-tenured career with the 49ers. So, it's an opportunity for me to say thank you to a lot of people that were a part of it and make sure that they feel appreciated, for sure."
The 49ers made Young the No. 7 overall draft pick out of Notre Dame in 1994. He spent 14 seasons with the team and was crucial in helping San Francisco win Super Bowl XXIX during his rookie campaign.
Young is a four-time Pro Bowl selection, was named a first-team All-Pro in 1996, and is an eight-time recipient of the 49ers' prestigious Len Eshmont Award. He is the franchise leader in career sacks with 89.5 and was named to the NFL 1990s All-Decade Team.
