The 2021 NFL Draft is tonight. Mac Jones of Alabama has long been the betting favorite to go to the San Francisco 49ers at No. 3 overall. The scenario is not the most popular among the fanbase. The other two top quarterback prospects — Justin Fields of Ohio State and Trey Lance of North Dakota State — are widely viewed as having higher ceilings.
For those suffering from anxiety that Jones may be the pick, as many still expect, NFL Network's Michael Silver reports that there is growing chatter around the league surrounding a potential Lance-to-49ers scenario.
"There's a lot of Trey Lance/Niners noise out there in NFL GM/coach circles this morning," Silver wrote via Twitter.
There's a lot of Trey Lance/Niners noise out there in NFL GM/coach circles this morning... for what it's worth. Eight hours or so till we all find out...

The 49ers have not offered any hints as to the direction they are leaning. The team continues to play it close to the vest and isn't likely to reveal its intentions until it is on the clock.
Jones remains the betting favorite to go No. 3 overall to the 49ers. Interestingly, Fields and Lance are now tied for the second-best odds, per MyBookie. Lance was ahead of Fields, as of yesterday, and really, since Sunday's report that San Francisco's choices had been narrowed down to Jones and Lance.
MyBookie odds for the No. 3 overall pick:
- Mac Jones -200
- Justin Fields +200
- Trey Lance +200
- Zach Wilson +2500
- Kyle Pitts +3500
Jones' lead among oddsmakers is narrowing. It is down to -167 at DraftKings and -165 at FanDuel, per Patrick Tulini. Those numbers were at -400 yesterday.
The market is now aggressively moving against Mac Jones at No. 3. Down to -167 at @DKSportsbook, -165 at @FDSportsbook. Also, @MyBookieBet have Justin fields and Trey Lance equal at +200. #49ers #NFLDraft #49wz
