The San Francisco 49ers are among three teams that have recently met virtually with former Boise State defensive back Avery Williams, per Justin Melo of The Draft Network. The other two are the Buffalo Bills and Carolina Panthers.

"Williams is one of the most electric special teams players in this class. 9 career TDs (KR/PR)," wrote Melo.

Williams (5-9, 195) recorded 19 tackles, two tackles for a loss, a pass defensed, and a forced fumble through seven games as a senior with the Broncos, per Sports Reference. He has registered 152 tackles, 4.5 tackles for a loss, four interceptions, 22 passes defensed, and five forced fumbles in four collegiate seasons.

NFL teams are allowed to conduct up to five video calls per prospect leading to the draft, and each call can last up to one hour. There is no limit to how many phone conversations NFL teams can conduct with draft-eligible players.

"Avery Williams aligned at cornerback for the Boise State defense," wrote Drae Harris of The Draft Network. "In the passing game, while he lacks ideal NFL measurables for the outside, his skill set translates favorably as a subpackage player. He has good short-area agility and tackling ability to align inside. In the run game, he is a willing tackler, with good tackling efficiency on wide receivers. He also adds value by excelling as a special teams player both on coverage units and as a returner."

The 2021 NFL Draft begins on April 29.
