49ers-Seahawks: George Kittle highlight catch praised on social media

Jan 3, 2021 at 3:29 PM--

It looked like the throw from San Francisco 49ers quarterback C.J. Beathard to tight end George Kittle was going to be intercepted by the Seattle Seahawks defense. In fact, Seahawks safety Quandre Diggs looked genuinely shocked that the football didn't land in his waiting hands and then turned to see that Kittle had somehow hauled in the pass.

The amazing catch immediately drew praise from the media, fans, and Kittle's injured teammates on social media.

The 49ers currently lead the favored Seahawks 9-6.

49ers TE George Kittle identifies where he can improve this offseason

By David Bonilla

San Francisco 49ers tight end George Kittle can do it all. He excels as both a receiver and a run-blocker, making him the complete package. Still, there is always room for improvement. According to Pro Football Focus, only six of Kittle's 63 targets this past season went for 20-or-more yards. The All-Pro tight end hauled in four of those pass attempts for 131 yards. To his credit, one was determined to be uncatchable, leaving Kittle with just one drop. He would love to create more opportunities as a downfield target, though. Kittle spoke with Chris Simms of NBC Sports last week and was asked what he hopes to work on this offseason to improve his game in 2021. "I would like to get better at the longer-distanced routes, some longer-distanced third-down

2020 was a fairly forgettable season for the 49ers, but there were still three catches along the way that were memorable enough to be included in the NFL's collection of the top 100 catches of the year. The collection was released to the NFL's YouTube account on February 19 and included catches from wide receiver Kendrick Bourne, tight end Jordan Reed, and tight end George Kittle, with Reed and Kittle's catches cracking the top 20. Here's a look at the 49ers catches that made their list. C.J. Beathard and Kendrick Bourne's meaningless-but-still-cool Hail Mary completion (ranked 68th overall) This play came as time expired in the 49ers' 41-33 loss to the Dallas Cowboys on December 20. Chances are it would have ranked higher had it

49ers FB Kyle Juszczyk discusses Pete Carroll, Seahawks, praises Brandon Aiyuk

Seattle Seahawks fullback Kyle Juszczyk? That is probably the last thing San Francisco 49ers fans want to see for the fan-favorite offensive weapon. Juszczyk is headed into free agency next month unless the 49ers can work out a deal before then. Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll is a fan of Juszczyk. "He does everything. He is a great player," Carroll said before facing the 49ers during Week 17. "He is as meaningful a part of an offense as any player in the NFL. … He can play tight end. He can play out of the backfield. He can lead on all the blocking principles that they have. He can carry the football. He's good in the red zone. He's good in short yardage. He's just a great football player." Juszczyk joined the Haberman and

Looking at the Road Ahead: Why the 49ers' quest for a sixth Super Bowl win still looks promising

By Don Atkinson
Feb 16, 2021

When the 49ers' injury-driven 2020 season mercifully ended, the team took unwanted claim to the basement of the NFC West at 6-10 and began fielding a litany of questions about its roster future. A few of those questions have been resolved, but many more are still left open, and have become the topic of debate among both football analysts and the team's fan base. The greatest questions, of course, have revolved around whether the 49ers can ride out another year with oft-injured quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo, who spent much of last season either hobbled on the field or watching from the press box. The fervor over whether Garoppolo can raise his play to a level needed to win a Super Bowl has continued to escalate, making his future with the team, at least to observers, seem shaky
