San Francisco 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan spoke to reporters via Zoom from AT&T Stadium following his team's latest loss — this time to the Dallas Cowboys. The defeat will almost certainly eliminate his squad from playoff contention. That could become official later this afternoon if the Arizona Cardinals beat the Philadelphia Eagles.
Most assumed that any decision on a potential return for tight end George Kittle and quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo would hinge on the 49ers' playoff chances. After the game, Shanahan was asked if the latest loss will impact his decision on either potentially playing during the last two weeks of the season.
"No, it doesn't," Shanahan responded.
A rather somber Shanahan didn't elaborate on his response as that was the end of his media availability. So, perhaps there is still a chance that Kittle and Garoppolo return despite there being nothing to play for.
