The San Francisco 49ers are coming off a 23-15 loss to Washington and will begin preparing this week for a matchup against another NFC East foe — the Dallas Cowboys.

At 5-8, the playoffs are a long shot, and the 49ers are on the brink of elimination. Dallas is coming off a 30-7 victory over the Cincinnati Bengals.

According to MyBookie, the 49ers opened as 2-point favorites (O/U 45.5) over the Cowboys. The team looks to finish the season on a high note after losing five of its last six games.

"We've just got to win," said cornerback Jason Verrett. "At the end of the day, we've got three games left. We've got to find a way to try to win out. But it starts next week with Dallas, and try to get a W."

The 49ers and Cowboys seem evenly matched when it comes to scoring. San Francisco is averaging 23.1 points per game (ranks 20th) compared to Dallas' 22.9 (ranks 21st). However, the Cowboys have allowed 400 points scored by opponents (32nd) while the 49ers have allowed 311 (14th).

Turnovers have been the storyline with San Francisco. The 49ers committed three against Washington and have committed at least two in each of their last seven games.

"We've definitely got to make sure everybody's on the same page," said offensive tackle Trent Williams. "We won't beat anybody on our schedule giving the ball away like we did these last few games. ... We still have a chance, and all we can do is control these last three games, and try to take it one game at a time, and win each one of them, and finish at 8-8 and see what that gets us. That's pretty much the only thing we can do at this point, and that's what we're prepared to go."

The 49ers and Cowboys are scheduled to kick off from AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas on Sunday at 10 a.m. PT (12 p.m. CT).

While that report was quickly shot down by his agent, there's still a lot of discussion about Aiyuk's future and if other teams will come calling on draft night.
