49ers place Raheem Mostert, Jauan Jennings on injured reserve, activate two from practice squad

The San Francisco 49ers have announced the following roster moves ahead of their game on Sunday against the New England Patriots.
- RB Raheem Mostert has been placed on injured reserve
- S Johnathan Cyprien and S Jared Mayden have been activated from the practice squad
- WR Jauan Jennings has been placed on the practice squad injured reserve list
Mostert suffered a high-ankle sprain during last weekend's win over the Los Angeles Rams. It is unknown what injury Jennings sustained.
Cyprien and Mayden being activated was not unexpected. The 49ers will be without both of their starting safeties, Jaquiski Tartt and Jimmie Ward, on Sunday.
The following rundown has been provided by the 49ers Communications staff.
Cyprien (6-1, 211) was originally drafted by the Jacksonville Jaguars in the second round (33rd overall) of the 2013 NFL Draft. Throughout his seven-year career with the Jaguars (2013-16), Tennessee Titans (2017-18), Philadelphia Eagles (2019) and Atlanta Falcons (2019), he has appeared in 75 games (71 starts) and registered 502 tackles, 16 passes defensed, four forced fumbles, 3.0 sacks, two interceptions and two fumble recoveries. He signed with the 49ers as a free agent on August 17, 2020, was released by the team on September 5 and signed to the team's practice squad the following day.
A 30-year-old native of North Miami Beach, FL, Cyprien spent four years (2009-12) at Florida International University where he appeared in 50 games (45 starts) and finished his career with 365 tackles, 22 passes defensed, 13.5 tackles for loss, seven interceptions (one returned for a touchdown), six forced fumbles, two fumble recoveries and 1.0 sack.
Cyprien will wear number 32.
Mayden (6-0, 205) originally signed with the 49ers as an undrafted free agent on April 28, 2020. He was waived by the team on September 5 and signed to the team's practice squad the following day.
A 22-year-old native of Sachse, TX, Mayden attended the University of Alabama where he appeared in 36 games (11 starts) and registered 82 tackles, 3.0 tackles for loss, four interceptions and 1.0 sack. In 2019, he appeared in 12 games (11 starts) and recorded 59 tackles, 1.0 tackle for loss and ranked second in the SEC with four interceptions.
Mayden will wear number 43.
Mostert (5-10, 205) started in four games this season and registered 51 carries for 303 yards and one touchdown to go along with 11 receptions for 150 yards and one touchdown through the air.
Jennings (6-3, 212) signed to the team's practice squad on September 6, 2020.

Matt Barrows of The Athletic revealed that former USC wide receiver Brenden Rice and former Oregon safety Jamal Hill didn't end up visiting the Bay Area organization.

Anthony "Spice" Adams to announce 49ers' draft picks in 2nd and 3rd rounds
NFL Communications has officially announced the "NFL legends and active players" who will announce selections during Day 2 of the 2024 NFL Draft. Representing the San Francisco 49ers will be former defensive tackle Anthony "Spice" Adams, who spent four seasons with the team and nine in the NFL.
San Francisco selected Adams out of Penn State in the second round (No. 57 overall) of the 2003 NFL Draft.

49ers sign WR Trent Taylor, reuniting with former draft pick
The San Francisco 49ers announced the signing of wide receiver Trent Taylor to a one-year deal, reuniting with the team's former fifth-round draft pick out of Louisiana Tech.
Matt Maiocco of NBC Sports Bay Area was the first to report that the 49ers were discussing a potential reunion with Taylor. The receiver was part of head coach Kyle Shanahan and general manager John Lynch's first draft class in 2017 and spent his first four NFL seasons with the team.
