MetLife misery: 49ers injury updates on Jordan Reed and Emmanuel Moseley

Sep 27, 2020 at 11:32 AM--

San Francisco 49ers tight end Jordan Reed tried to stay inbounds in the end zone while hauling in a pass from quarterback Nick Mullens during the first quarter against the New York Giants at MetLife Stadium. The veteran appeared to roll his ankle on the play, leaving the Niners down to Ross Dwelley and rookie Charlie Woerner at tight end.

Reed was ruled out of bounds on the play.

The 49ers later announced that Reed was "questionable" to return, and the tight end did so during the second quarter. He was, however, seen on the sideline late in the first half having his left knee and leg examined by the medical staff.

Reed was seen slowly and carefully heading into the locker room ahead of his teammates at the end of the first half. Head coach Kyle Shanahan confirmed at halftime that the 49ers will be without Reed for the remainder of the game, per Pam Oliver of FOX.

Cornerback Emmanuel Moseley collided with safety Jaquiski Tartt as the two attempted to tackle Giants quarterback Daniel Jones at the start of the second quarter. Moseley was evaluated for a concussion and initially listed as "questionable" to return. He was later ruled "out" after confirmation that he suffered a concussion.

That leaves Jason Verrett and Dontae Johnson in at the two cornerback spots. Ahkello Witherspoon is inactive and Richard Sherman is on short-term injured reserve.

2020 was a fairly forgettable season for the 49ers, but there were still three catches along the way that were memorable enough to be included in the NFL's collection of the top 100 catches of the year. The collection was released to the NFL's YouTube account on February 19 and included catches from wide receiver Kendrick Bourne, tight end Jordan Reed, and tight end George Kittle, with Reed and Kittle's catches cracking the top 20. Here's a look at the 49ers catches that made their list. C.J. Defensive end Nick Bosa is in Florida working out and rehabbing from the ACL injury he sustained at MetLife Stadium during Week 2 this past season. The former No. 2 overall pick recently had a brief conversation with former ESPN reporter Josina Anderson and provided an update on his recovery. "You'll see my progress on the field next [season]," Bosa told Anderson via a phone conversation. "Tell them I'm gonna be better." I spoke w/ #49ers DL Nick Bosa (ACL) on the phone real quick before his workout in Ft Lauderdale,

Spotrac predicts some key 49ers free agency comings and goings

By Kirk Larrabee
Feb 20, 2021

What might things look like for the San Francisco 49ers after the first wave of free agency? Time will tell, but one possible scenario was laid forth by sports financial analysis website Spotrac earlier this week. Spotrac operator Michael Ginnitti posted a long list of free agency projections on February 17, which included guesses for salaries and destinations of the top impending free agents across the NFL. Ginnitti included two 49ers among his guesses -- offensive tackle Trent Williams and cornerback Richard Sherman -- while also projecting three other free agents to wind up in San Francisco. Ginnitti's projections on Williams and Sherman aren't
