George Kittle offers great response to Bobby Wagner’s praise

Jul 19, 2020 at 9:53 AM--

San Francisco 49ers tight end George Kittle has impressed his fans all offseason with his workout regimen. He is preparing to lead his team through its "Legendary Revenge Tour" this season — assuming there is a season — and has his sights set on a return trip to the Super Bowl.

Below is just a small sample of some of the videos that have made their way through social media.

One NFL player who suits up for a division rival, linebacker Bobby Wagner of the Seattle Seahawks, recently took notice, paying Kittle a compliment by calling him a "beast."

Kittle responded in classic Kittle fashion with "Trying to find a way to stay 6 feet away from you, man!!" The tight end, of course, is blending social distancing with avoiding the division rival on the football field.

The 49ers and Seahawks are scheduled to face each other twice this season with the first matchup coming in Seattle during Week 8 in November, and the second taking place at Levi's Stadium in Week 17. We'll have to wait until then to see if Kittle can keep his distance from Wagner on his way to first downs and, hopefully, the end zone.

Seattle Seahawks general manager John Schneider recently admitted that San Francisco 49ers tight end George Kittle was among the reasons why the division rivals gave up a haul to acquire safety Jamal Adams. "But you have to have so much speed on the back, especially when we're playing against Kyler Murray and George Kittle and Robert Woods and all these guys that seem like they are just running all over the place," Schneider told Peter King of NBC Sports. "You've got to have as much speed on the field. So adding a guy like Jamal who has that versatility to play down in the box and play in the hole and play man coverage is really important to us." The

He has recorded back-to-back seasons of over 1,000 yards receiving, getting into the end zone 10 times during that span, and set a new NFL single-season record for receiving yards by a tight end in 2018 with 1,377. Kittle is pretty good. So is Travis Kelce of the Kansas City Chiefs. The two find themselves listed as the only Tier-1 players within Pro Football Focus' rankings of the best fantasy football tight ends.
