Here's a little Niner nugget for you. Our friends over at @TheSFNiners posted a very short video of San Francisco 49ers rookie wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk making a one-handed catch while training.
And it's not just that it was a one-handed catch. Aiyuk turns the reception into a circus catch, which you just have to watch to believe. The football goes through his legs and then ends up in his other hand before the receiver's feet touch the ground.
Rookies are currently scheduled to report to training camp next week. Although, the 49ers are awaiting word from Santa Clara County and the state of California. Both are reviewing the coronavirus protocols the team plans to use, according to Matt Barrows of The Athletic.
Follow up: The county says it's reviewing the coronavirus protocols the #49ers plan to use when training camp begins this month. The state is also reviewing the same. Rookies are *scheduled* to report 7/21, veterans a week later.
San Francisco made Aiyuk the second of its two first-round picks in April's draft. If all goes as planned, next week will be the first time he gets to meet with his new coaching staff face-to-face. NFL players have not been allowed in team facilities since March due to the coronavirus pandemic.
