Jimmie Ward is now the longest-tenured player on the San Francisco 49ers roster, thanks to the retirements of tight end Garrett Celek and offensive tackle Joe Staley. The 49ers made the defensive back the No. 30 overall pick in 2014.

Ward spoke with reporters on Wednesday via a video conference call and was asked how it feels to be the "old man" on the team.

"It's really surprising," Ward responded. "I didn't realize that until the media started blowing it up. I don't feel any different. I actually have [cornerback Richard Sherman] in my DB room, so I feel like he's the oldest guy in the league, that's still on this team.

"I just feel like it's a big deal being able to say that I'm the [longest-tenured player] that plays on the 49ers, and I think it's awesome."

Ward is a 28-year-old veteran entering his seventh NFL season while Sherman is 32-year-old entering his 10th.

Oh, and Ward conducted the entire interview with the Golden Gate Bridge superimposed into the background.
