San Francisco 49ers running back Jeff Wilson Jr. has had a month to reflect on that devastating Super Bowl loss to the Kansas City Chiefs. For many teams, squandering a late 10-point lead in the biggest sporting event of the year can lead to an offseason hangover that can carry over into the next season.
The 49ers are using it as fuel.
"Of course it's hard, especially when you're up in the fourth quarter [20]-10," Wilson told Peter Schrager, Nate Burleson, and Kim Jones Wednesday morning on Good Morning Football. "It's like a stinger. It hurts. There's nothing you can do about it but sleep on it, and dream about it, and have those thoughts.
"But the great part about it is you can let it fuel you through the offseason because we know what we want to get back to, and we know where we're going. We're just going to add that, throw that into the bank with the rest of the stuff that's going against us, and have a great offseason, and come back and get ready to compete again."
The NFC and NFC West champion 49ers hope to kick off a "Revenge Tour" during the 2020 season, as described by the team's All-Pro tight end after the Super Bowl LIV loss.
"Revenge tour, baby," George Kittle said after the game. "I was just sitting with Kwon (Alexander), and we were saying: 'The Legendary Revenge Tour of 2020.' It's coming, and I can't f--king wait."
